Great review as always, love the link to the efficiency test and respect that you didn’t choose to make this a longer video and adding an efficiency test. It would be cool though, to see some sort of qualitative data on reviews, like regulator consistency for example (averaging chrono FPS). Especially seeing as how markers are moving away from external regs and the option to upgrade to a CP reg, etc. Keep up the good work!

I actually like the new softer lighting seems more natural & definitely easier on the eyes late at night

I like what they did with the main grips on these. Personally I prefer a larger grip like those found on a 45 frame but I still found the syx's thin grip to be appealing.

Empire should really sell the ASA / reg as a standalone upgrade to the Axe / Vanquish torpedo one

Anything empire makes is fucking solid and nobody can take that from them. They have the best bang for your buck anything

We also got the one time release Boss Axe that had dye’s eye pipe.

Really in-depth review. Nice! I know with my Axe, I put rubber bands around mine on the foregrip. The only thing I didn't like about the Axe, mine just never worked in the cold where many say it's fine and should work. Or I'm just up here in New York and we just get colder than most people. Went from many forums to try and fix it, nothing worked.

You need to get a delrin boss bolt. The problem is the stock bolt and the stock bolt guide seem to be two different types of aluminum alloy.........when things get cold one can shrink at a different rate than the other causing some stiction........for lack of a better word. I've seen this happen as well........especially cold wet days. The guns running boss bolts never had the issue as the delrin isn't as effected by the cold and they tend to run a slightly looser fit.

My question is with the plastic front grip, does it feel like it would ever come loose? Or is it super sturdy?

Agreed, rather than go for high contrast lighting the diffused lighting here looks much more cinematic. No need for shadow detail on a talking head video Brad - you’re doing great! Then again, now that it is winter I see you wearing a flannel shirt so maybe you were like me and are just trying to keep warm LOL. At least go with this kind of luck during the summer time in Sacramento☠️

Is empire no longer including the 4 piece Barrel kit for the syx 1.5? just wondering but I am seeing some websites have it listed with a 4 piece and most others with a 2. Any idea why this is?

I can't wait for the next gun Empire comes out with, I feel like it's gonna be a real winner!!!

What ever happened to the vanquish?

I really like the look of this. I am a current 160r owner, but I find that I sometimes prefer the feel of the poppet valve on my friends Axe. I doubt I will replace my 160r, but I do think if it were $100 cheaper it would be a steal.

Hey 👋🏽 I gotta a question. So I’ve played a few matches of paintball and I really enjoy the game. My only problem is I keep getting massive bruises when I play (I take two blood thinners). I would like to continue the sport and not let my condition defer me from it. So my question is do you have and recommendations for the best protective gear. Thanks 🙏🏽

A few things. For knee pads, elbow pads and slider shorts I like the GI Sportz Race 2.0, and for torso/chest protection the Planet Eclipse Overload Jersey. For paintball specific stuff those are what I think are the best pads. I'm sure there is some other layering would help tons especially easy when in the winter.

I knew a an old pro that had carpet material sewn underneath his paintball pants. He claimed balls broke less on them and when they did break it was hardly noticeable. Downside was it took some effort to make and weight and the heat

What’s your opinion on a macdev gti clone? It’s not a new gun or a super expensive gun but I think it’s a really good option for players that want to step up to the mid range area

There's just so many used options out there. Geo 3, LV1, G6R, Gteks or this SYX are guns I would choose over the GTI.

The Vanquish doesn't have one... But basically this is the 6th version of the Axe/Mini platform, they all look alike despite minor differences. The technical reason for the spring is that the pneumatics are simpler because it uses the spring to return the bolt to starting position.

4 years later I'm barely watching this but I've owned a vanquish and I think it is a very very underrated gun I am so upset I got rid of it

Anyone know if the contour 2 parts are compatible with the og one?

That's not bad, but for the same price you could get a better gtek 160r. Or, for 250-300ish you can get an axe 2.0 or etha 2 used and are both excellent values.

Actually I like the lighting, it looks more sophisticated.

But is it worth $700+ ?

It's because the paintball community loves to crap on anything they decide they don't like. the Vanquish shoots better than the DLX Luxe ice (haven't tested against the uber hyped up ion derivative calling itself the new Luxe yet) but the community arbitrarily chose to crap on it. They do this all the time... Remember the Tippmann Crossover XVR? It was a decent all-round paintball marker which had a LOT of promise as a platform.. but too many people railed against it and now it's dead. I love paintball and have been in it for over 20+ years but the online community sometimes is really dumb.

Looks. I feel like when the Vanquish 1.0 came out one person said it was ugly and then everyone said it was ugly and now people don't like it. I like them though I think they're good guns, that shoot well, and they feel great hands. I think it's just looks, same thing might be said in 5 years about this SYX good gun it just looks funky.

I’ve shot a vanquish, cs1, cs2, csr, luxe etc... Never seen much difference but I have always felt like you should have a gun that looks as good as it shoots. And empire just doesn’t have it. Even with this syx they really tried to make it happen but fell short imo.

MrSwat55 in my personal experience I dislike squishes a lot,my friend had one and other teammate and their guns also broke down and weren’t shooting well I stay away from them

If you're the somewhat niche demographic that's not willing to spend the time and money to go pro, but considers themselves a "rec" pro who's out on the fields doing any type of gameplay each weekend, this is the marker for you. The amount of people I've heard knocking this marker because of the grip appearance alone is mind boggling.....I can't think of many things more sophomoric and petty than that. Also, fun fact, the Shocker (what many people say is the superior version to this gun) is *more* expensive....so that can't be a point of contention either. The Shocker XLS is $50-$100 dollars more depending on skin color. I've always been an Axe/Mini/Empire fan because, for whatever reason the paintball market loves hating on mid range to upper mid range guns for no apparent reason. They want you to either be stuck forever on the low end and only play woodsball in the backyard with your friends, or go pro and shell out for a CSR. The mid range has been hated cause they cut down the profit margins of the tournament sponsors or mass retailers. Well worth the investment. Will be acquiring once my Axe 2.0 kicks the bucket.

I got a brand new syx for $450, totally worth it.I don't know if I would have bought it for more than $500. I think if they can get the price point around $500 $550 tops they would sell. to many guns in the $700-$900 that will be alot smoother.

Yeah the bowl system is very similar and they shoot extremely well. I really just think it's because it says Empire on the side and they look weird. Branding.

The gtek is now only 400 dollars, that’s literally the best deal in paintball right now. I’ve been practicing with some of the TMG crew and a lot of them aren’t fans either. I still have a 1st gen invert mini and it shoots great for my girl.

2015 axe pro came in a cardboard box. The pin array when you take it apart was a pain. The joystick redline sucked.

Correct. For me both guns are way too small. The main reason I like the Minis is because of the reliability I can't say the same about the RSX.

Expensive guns like this do nothing for our shrinking sport. We need more things like the emek/pals. However I very much appreciate Brad's hard work doing the reviews on all levels of gear. The work he does is outstanding and DOES help grow paintball.

Why are some guns worth $700 And others that work and shoot paintballs fine are $100 or $200

@@Struggle.Snuggles yea it does when at the very end of the video he compared it to a gtek 160r and how it was a better gun and I responded with that statement cuz I bought the first gtek and then everyone i play with bought a 160r and they have all run flawless in all weather conditions for a while now.seen lots of players with axes not working and asking me if i know anything about them.
