Emotional Steve Aoki: Life is short, love what you do

Ойын-сауық

DJ and musician Steve Aoki candidly reflects on the sacrifices necessary to stay at the top of his industry. Aoki - who has performed at least 250 shows per year for 15 years - says his current schedule doesn’t allow for a family or children, but he wants to have kids eventually. He refers to his experiences working a large crowd as “the ultimate high” and gets introspective recalling emotions he felt earlier this year when performing back in his hometown of Newport Beach, California. Aoki remembers his best friend, who passed away in 2020 and encourages viewers to embrace every moment spent with those who matter.
Aoki goes into more detail within his 2019 memoir “Blue: The Color of Noise,” which is available on Amazon - tinyurl.com/yktbww9v.

This reminds me kinda of Schoolboy Q loosing Mac Miller and many other artists. Looks like a hell of a life for us people who aren't famous in general, but we should think about how much people do sacrifice for this kind of life...missing their families, etc. Success, for me, is character. Success is being the best person you can to yourself, others around you and the environment in general. People who think success is measured by a number still need to work on their characters.

you could be right but there's nothing wrong with chasing highs in life, especially if they're natural. the feeling after exercise or a jog or the feeling after a great accomplishment or being in the moment or high surfers or skateboarders deep in their passion, (as for a sober entertainer as this case) is an incredible joy. not same as chasing drugs, which is more for escaping reality. performing live is an embrace of reality, but i would tell steve to have children soon, even if he cannot always be there we must remember our goal of bringing new life into this planet.

Damn what a humble human being. Life is definitely short. I feel everyone eventually comes to that realization.

I feel connected to Steve from this interview and watching his vulnerability. I hope he remains to be happy. This kind of soulfulness in a person is beautiful.

Beautiful. Brilliant. When you have kids, they will be beautiful. Sending Love Man. I feel you…I miss the people I have lost too and this was something I grappled with. It can be brutally painful. You’ll figure it out~you’re already there 💫.

There's no grand moment, but there are Graham moments. You did such an awesome job interviewing Steve. It was so raw and beautiful, you peeled the layers away and showed us all that in the end, famous people are human too. Thank you.

Aoki is giving me life with vulnerability. "Every moment matters" - very true brother. I lost my older brother to covid earlier this year so, i resonate with that statement so much. Thank you for sharing Steve! I know how it feels to be there at our 40's age and being in the moment and contemplating purpose. I am with you more than you know.

I saw him in concert this past summer for my first time ever after being a huge fan for the past four years. Was absolutely amazing. I was lucky I got caked and felt like I knew him for a split second when he looked me in the eyes and had the most genuine smile. It’s awesome seeing him open up like this and letting his fans see that he is an awesome guy in addition to being an amazing artist.

So much respect for him just being authentic! He's coming back to Midland Odessa area in two weeks after the event center botched his scheduled event while he was back stage. The fact that he's coming back for the fans that came out to see him just says millions about this man! Can't wait to see him!
