EMOTIONAL KLOPP PRESS CONFERENCE | Plus team news update
Jurgen Klopp held his final pre-match press conference as Liverpool manager on Friday afternoon.
The German spoke with journalists at the AXA Training Centre ahead of the Reds taking on Wolves at Anfield this weekend.
However, the match was barely touched on, with his emotional farewell after eight-and-a-half years in charge the main topic.
Across a lengthy press conference, Klopp discussed "the most intense week" of his life and the departures of several coaches and Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip.
He also had some touching words for the journalists who have covered his time at Anfield closely down the years.
Liverpool reporter David Lynch was at the AXA and is here to provide a review of the press conference, as well as a small team news update ahead of the weekend.

Surely the one a couple of matches ago when he just let rip as if there wasn't a care in the world. Any other manager so forthright?

Was hoping it was all a bad dream, but it is not. Once again, THANK YOU JURGEN. YNWA.
I absolutely love Joel Matip ❣️
There will never be another Klopp. Just like there will never be another Shankly or Paisley.

Whilst I agree, you've kind of contradicted yourself there. By naming so many managers. There will always be another great Liverpool manager.
The part about Thiago, I loved. In a parrallel word where Thiago wasnt plagued by injury. He could have have been on of the best players in the world. So gifted, reminded me of Zidane at times. Such a shame.
It’s been a blast the man’s a goat miss him like a favourite uncle !!! 💯💯😁😁🥰🥰😎😎 hopefully slot hits the ground running from august Dave 💯💯👍👍
End of an era
Its sad to see him go but boy did we enjoy the ride YNWA Boss
I realised when the press conference ended abruptly, that Jurgen was probably going to speak with the journalists. As you say, that was a class act from this wonderful man. I also noted his determination about keeping the documentary staff away from the dressing room. I imagine that this will only fuel speculation about the decision to bring them in at all, and whether or not this was a contributory factor in deciding to leave. If so, FSG have blood on their hands.

Definitely not a contributory factor to him departing mate! He agreed for it to happen and was fully on board with it as long as he could set boundaries.
I thought Klopp's comments on VAR was quite telling. He said the problem was not VAR but it is the people that operate it. Since the people can't be changed (i.e PGMOL refs), then he would vote for VAR to be abolished.
