I would follow Emmylou anywhere with anyone. Just looking at her makes my heart flutter.
Good surprise with Elvis, Emmylou is fine; voice and pretty LADY!
Gram smiling down from heaven.

I believe you are right.
I saw this concert, having travelled down from Toronto with my (then) girlfriend. Went on consecutive nights, in fact. On the afternoon of the second show, I met EC, who was browsing across the street from the Ryman at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop. He had one security guy with him, who judged us sufficiently sane to go and make our introductions. I talked to Elvis about lining up to see him - but not getting in - at the El Mocambo in TO, Spring of 1977. EC was gracious and we had a nice chat. Took a photo with him, got his autograph. These shows stand out as among the most precious moments in my life.
My lord this is mighty ..incredible
What a find, fantastic.
I had the privilege of seeing this concert live!! Thank you for sharing this!! It's PRICELESS!!

Me too. The next day I ran into EC in the Ernest Tubb record shop across the street from the Ryman. Got his autograph. Precious memories.
Fantastic! Thank-you. Dan Berendt
Why has this only got 5,246. views, maybe like me nobody knows it's here. I just found it by accident. !!
Amazing version of love hurts!
Elvis Costello is lucky to have been with Emmylou Harris for his first time at the Grand Ole Opry because he's not exactly the type of musician they usually like but when you go on stage with a country legend like Emmylou Harris it's a whole different story. Even though he did a country record there's absolutely no comparison to playing with Emmylou Harris

18:00 "I wrote for and recorded songs with George Jones and Johnny Cash when I was 22." Just like the other Elvis. (Except for the "wrote for" part, of course.)

Elvis Costello is a huge talent across multiple genres. He's not a dilettante when it comes to country music, it's played a major part in his career from his first album. He's played the Ryman numerous times on his own merits. BTW I was there for this particular performance. A very precious memory.
RIP Elvis
I was also led here by MR Costello's autobiography, :-) this is a great find made even better from having recently returned from Nashville. ( A must for any person who loves music) Elvis Costello's book is great, not just for his story but also for the music and artist references 😀🎸

+kada1988 Wasn't the old Ryman great? especially that Holo-graphic history at the end-and the tribute to Emmy-lou
Gillian Welch at 19:42.
This is awesome!
Just trying to track down the enormous number of references in Elvis Costello's autobiography. This is great! Glad I came.
