"There's two kinds of men in this world. Those in love with Emmylou Harris. And those who haven't met her." - Willie Nelson.

Willie was 100% accurate on this one. Emmylou not only rejected Satan's Crown. She bears the invincible crown of Holy Spirit. But only people with eyes of holy faith can see it on her. .

Years ago I heard a radio DJ say he kept an album cover of Ms. Harris nearby for, as he put it, inspiration. I get that. She's amazingly beautiful and a great voice.

For the record, she went to UNC Greensboro. The arts department there is held in high regard.

Just wondering how long she was singing mostly just folk music before she changed to country music?

After quitting university in her second year she tried singing folk in New York and then Washington. She released one folk album, but folk wasn't creating new stars by that time despite her beautiful voice. Although she previously had some experience with country songs, as she says in the interview, her country career really began in about 1972 when she was hired to sing on Gram Parsons' two terrific solo albums, GP and Grievous Angel. He apparently taught her a lot about the genre and introduced her to people like Linda Ronstadt who helped her get her solo career started after Gram tragically died in 1973. Her first country album, Pieces of the Sky, was released in 1975. She has paid musical tribute to Gram Parsons throughout her career.

Years later in the fall of 1994, NY based actress/comedian/choreographer/dancer/filmmaker/author/fashion designer/musician/vocalist Bonita of the Turning Point fame has now followed in Emmylou Harris' footsteps and started her own business. Which she did extraordinary well and never looked back after all. From September 27, 1985-present, she appeared in a series of print ads for Hanes Smooth Illusions Body Contouring Hosiery and its slogan was "Liposuction Without Surgery."

One of the most successful country/western musicals was 1980's "Honeysuckle Rose" which Emmylou Harris was very proud to join the club in this Oscar nominated family classic. Followed by several other Oscar nominated classics: "Songwriter" (1984), "Murphy's Romance" (1985) and Carolco's long awaited troubled production of "Steel Magnolias" (1989).
