Out of all the mexican candy reviews in youtube I've seen, I love Emmy's the most. You can tell she has a trained palate, accepting new and different flavours without grimacing at how different they could be. Even when she thinks something is too sweet or too spicy she just says so and accepts the flavour as "different", not as "bad".

I like how she explains the flavors and the textures too! Very detailed and truly lets you imagine how it really tastes like. I've tried some of these candies before (I'm not Mexican, but they sell most of this stuff around where I live), and the way she described it was exactly how I remember it tasting like! Pretty amazing, it makes the videos more interesting.

Thanx for your review, quite well done, light hearted, nice. Also, thank you for sayin' "México" the way it has to be said -something like "Méh-hee-coh-. Really thankful for those small details. Just to give you some info about it, chocolate is very common here since Mexican indigenous cultures discovered it and, after the Spanish conquest, they spread it all over the world. There would be no chocolate -and also no tomatoes, no avocados and no turkeys- anywhere in the world if Spanish guys wouldn't have tasted it, liked it and taken it to Europe. That's why we are kind of chocolate-aholics. It's everywhere here. Once again, thank you for your review.

Technically it wasnt the Spanish who discovered cacao. It was the indigidous people of brazil and the Mayans incas and Aztecs used them and the space conquistadors attacked them and used the same techniques as the native Americans

eddiesadat Mmmhh... Let's say it better: obviously, indigenous people of Ancient Mexico -have no news about Brazilian ones- used cacao, but it wasn't in a way that we should recognize. I mean, they used to drink it mixed with corn -pinole- and even chile. Nothing to do with chocolate. What I meant was that Spanish conquistadores took it away after conquest and spread it around the world, just because indigenous people wouldn't have done so. Also, Spanish guys began drinking it in sweet beverages -but, as we know, modern chocolate was actually "invented" even by Swiss or French dudes between 17th and 18th century. That's it. Thank you for your answer, hope we can keep this conversation going on. That will assure me I'll get to understand what did you mean when you said that conquistadores used the same techniques as the native Americans. The same... the same? No way. Spanish men used fire guns, gunpowder, iron and horses. That was, to a certain extent, the key to the victory, even knowing that there wouldn't have been any conquest -or it would have taken a lot more years- without indigenous allies.

Ok I see what you are trying to say but cacao trees first came from brazil I can see what you mean by the conquistadors taking the cacao and bringing it back to Mexico. But again it doesn't really matter. Thanks for your reply :)

Have taste them all I guess, I love Mazapan, , and I have brought bags of Rockaletas lollypops to Germany. In Guadalajara I had a drink called TEJUINO con limón. I loved it. And I have to mention: Tortas Ahogadas! yessss! Every single town had their own food style. I loved that.

I love how she's very respectful towards our culture and snacks. All the videos I've seen of people eating Mexican candy act grossed out and make it seem like it's the worse taste on earth. She's very honest and actually takes the time to taste the candy !

Exactly! Although the BuzzFeed ones were hilarious, Emmy's was more objective and very well made. She did the whole taste test as it should be done. And her pronunciation was awesome. She made me smile and want to eat some Cucharitas based on her reaction. Lol. Awesomeness all the way!

Morgan Brandy it's a Mexican pastry that can be bought in stores. If you freeze them they taste 10x better imo.

Finally someone makes an objective video of tasting our mexican candies, and not just throwing insults because you're not used to our flavors, good job there Emmy, I will subscribe just because you made this tasting video with so much respect and giving honest and objective opinions and that's how you should make these kind of videos, I hope others can learn from you!!!

Sorry for replying in English (I understand Spanish better than I speak it, but I used to be fluent), but there are some Mexican markets if you look around your town a bit and they sell Mexican produce and all of the old treats, snacks, and foods we grew up with.

"De la Rosa" is the trademark the actual name of the second candy is Masapan, also the tamarindos are served in many ways, in spoon is one of those, definitely worth trying, they are really good

You're so awesome. Most of the other "tasting" videos on youtube just have people who are totally out of their element and make no effort to appreciate foods for what they are, grown men gaging when they eat anything from another country (give me a break!). You on the other hand have a huge breadth of knowledge about international foods and are completely open to trying new things! Makes me wanna try new things too! Keep it up :)

I'm from México and yes! My favorite candy has to be Mazapán. (the second one you ate) it's AMAZING! I love it. And dulces de coco, they're so good and natural. You only get them in very small towns they're home made by very humble people but they're so good, great video! :) Méxicoooooooooo

De la Rosa is the brand name, Mazapán is the name of the candy, it's a traditional (Spanish) treat, De la Rosa is my favorite one. It's interesting to see someone try all these for the first time.

Went to college in USA and couldn't find many of these candies. We have tons. Everyday I find new ones. Our cuisine is so diverse, the Europeans brought many and the Indians had many too, mostly tamarind based with chilly. I love Mexico's candies and our food. Our language is beautiful as well. Bubulubus were my favorite of the sweet ones. I also liked Moritas Ricolino. But yeah, I was partial to the spicy ones - anything with tamarind or chili pepper, haha Viva Mexicoooo!!

great, I'm Mexican and I love to see people from other parts you like our sweets but you need to prove ROCALETA, LUCAS any one because it have many flavors, PANDITAS this is gommies,PULPARINDO, CARLOS V, BOCADIN, BUBALOO,PELON PELO RICO jajaj his name is fun,VAQUITA,MIGUELITO,SKWINKLES,CHUPA CHUPS,CACHETADAS,TAMA-ROCA,CANDIES VERO have many candies,SONRIC´S they also have many candies, and you need to try a lot of sweets but many more BYE I LOVE YOU

I never really liked any of the sweet Mexican candies, they were always either not sweet enough or super ultra sweet like Duvalin, which is just awful. But I loved all the spicy, sour, tamarind stuff. Lucas powder and gusano, Limon Sal, the watermelon, corn, pineapple and mango lollipops covered in spicy stuff, the straws wrapped in chewy tamarind, and my absolute favorite Rellerindos. Also that thing that looked like Lucas Pelon but it was pineapple flavored. Gahh!! I need to go find some of this stuff and binge like I was 10 years old again. :)

well for the candies you mentioned, im quite sure you'd fancy the "skuinkles" almost sure it's spelled that way, anyway, try the normals and the special one called "skuinklote" it's smashingly good, it's like a double size and it has something inside don't know what but taste AWESOME!!!, greetings mate.

I live 90 minutes outside of LA and I grew up with these candies! They're everywhere in the Mexican markets in SoCal.

6:51 in arizona we don't call them canels. We call them chiclets

actually, chiclets is also a brand name. the word for chewing gum in spanish is chicle.

Angie Solis well it's funny, the brand indeed was name "chiclets" cause in the mayan world, notsure if it were the mayans or other pre-hispanic group called it "chiclet" that refers to "moving mouth" or "moving your jaw", and came to chicle in the modern spanish, lol kind of puzzling xD, greetings girl.

The red chicle is canela y the lilac tastes like flowers. I like them but they lose their flavor too quik.

i want to know how could i sent you a real mexican treats package. wit glorias, tamarindo, obleas, cajeta, palanqueta, alegrias, chocolate abuelita. real mexican stuff....

I used to get tamarind sodas at a coffee house in San Francisco. Loved them. Such an amazing flavor. I'm in Kentucky, now, there's a Mexican grocery I go to in Louisville. I think they have the tamarind spoons, I have to try one now. They're next door to an Asian grocery I like, too. I like snacks from other countries. I ate a lot of food from other countries when I was a teenager, really developed a taste for them. I love Mexican pastries, not so sweet as American pastries. Some of the flavors​ I've never identified, but they're good.

I actually agree with you, the Duvalins are way too sweet for me. I never really liked them. Before I get hate, I'm of Mexican decent....I eat all these candies and more on regular basis.

i'm really surprised emmy and you think duvalin is super sweet,i never found it sweet ,for the contrary,specially the chocolate one has a hard taste to me,i've always liked duvalin ;)

Marisol Zaragoza Not me though. I guess it's because we all have different tastes in our mouths. Some people experience more intense tastes than others. And perhaps my body doesn't really welcome the Duvalin all that much.

By cucharita I meant the little scooper for the Duvalin. that damn thing always gets lost!

Ii'm just surprised that they didn't include any Pulparindo, Pelón, or other chilli coated treats. The Tamarind spoon was the closest I guess xD

shes the only person i've seen so far, whos from another culture that knows tamarindo because most of the Americans on the other youtube videos who are tasting mexican candy dont know what tamarindo is.

Hi emmu, I am mexican from Jalisco and I would like you to try the traditional candy, not the trademark ones, so I don't know how can I sent it to you ,

I've had all of those. I was raised with them(I am Mexican) and when I give them to my friends they are all like that is so sweet. But my favorite reaction is with tamarin candy, they all freak out with it. I guess you gotta be Mexican to bet used to the flavors but not to like it.
