Dear All-that-feel-bad-that-I-ate-a-lot-of-licorice, Not to worry. :) I don't like licorice, but I keep thinking that someday I might and for that reason I don't mind people sending it. Plus, licorice makes me make weird faces and that's always fun.

I love how you can hear on Emmy what something tastes like. Mmmffff - an I-told-you-so manner, it contains licorice. Mmmm, mmm! - this was delicious! Mm? Mmm! - I did not expect that!

I was just smiling wile watching this. since I'm from Iceland myself it was fun watching someone taste candy I've always eaten. And you're just really sweet.
I think Mr.S made a mistake of sending you so many candies with black liquorice since I know people in the US aren't fond of it, but we Icelanders like that sort of thing. The "brand" you called "Risa" is actually just a value size of the original candy. You can get "Risa" (which means "Giant" or "Large") versions of many different brands, the Risa Hraun is from a company called GÓA. Tromp is primarily a marzipan candy with chocolate and black liquorice. The reason I think it tasted so bad for you is the type of marzipan used, it draws out ALL the flavor of the black liquorice and makes it extra sweet and salty. Æði Bitar could be translated to "Awesome Bites" or "Awesome Bits." It's a shame he didn't send you the Green Ópal since it has a more tender and sweeter flavor than the über strong red one you got, there's also a purple one but that tastes like pure black liquorice. If you want a taste of Icelandic candy you should go to the online stores the companies like Góa and Nói Síríus have and just order online, or better yet just go here: shopicelandic.com/product-categories/icelandic-candy

I was reminded about a second webpage people can buy Icelandic candy from: www.nammi.is "nammi" is one of the many words in Icelandic that is used for "candy" Also here's a fun little thing you can do in Icelandic, you take this sentance: "A sheep on a river owns a sheep on the farm River" and translate it into Icelandic using only a single letter from the Icelandic alphabet: "Á á á á á á Á" The letter "Á" and it's lowercase form "á" can mean multiple things depending on where and how you use it in a sentance. :)

I´m from Iceland!!!! Soooo happy that someone sent you icelandic sweets!! The filling of the Tromp candybar you got is liqorice and marzipan and the Rís bar you got with the cereal puffs in it is really popular in Iceland but we also have these corn puffs on its own, covered in milk chockolate and that´s called Nóa Kropp and is from the factory Siríus ;D Again, sooo glad you got to taste some of our sweets, love from Reykjavik, Iceland!!!
When I was in Iceland last November, I brought back candy to share with friends. Because nearly everything had licorice in it, they were generally panned. The hands-down favorite was a bag of chocolate coated toffee bits though there was one candy that had a licorice center but was coated with powdered licorice outside. That one was amazing, prompting a long foodie-type discussion analyzing the why we liked that one over any of the others.
I'm from Iceland. GIVE ME ATTENTION!

the last one Pipp is actually also made in dark chocolate but instead of being in a mint green wrapper the dark chocolate is in a red wrapper :)
I'm from iceland and i love the way you are tasting this candy for the first time. I mean i have been eating this candy since i was a toddler and the way you where surprised by some of these things. I see and eat this every week. It's just so weird to me

Just so you know, "Risa" is not the brand. "Freyja" is the brand. The word "Risa" means "Giant", so it's like the size of the candy bar. There are non "Risa" varieties that are smaller than the ones you have there. It's like getting a "King size!" Candy bar in the states.

I would love to see you slow bake Icelandic rye bread - it is absolutely delightful! I am planning to dig into the making of it soon. Traditionally it is baked underground with all the lovely geothermal energy we have there.
Every year, I get a package from my grandparents in Iceland with all sorts of Icelandic candy. We get this licorice rope, chewy fruit candies, and crunchy chocolate bars called Kropp. Kropp is amazing btw
I think I would like the PIPP Bar the best :D

They used to have a dark chocolate peppermint Pipp. The wrapping looks the same but with red bars instead of the green. I'm sure by now someone HAS mentioned this, but why would anyone keep sending Emmy licorice when it's obvious it is NOT her favorite. I always thought introducing a flavor enough times I was taught one would begin to tolerate or maybe enjoy a flavor. Clearly this isn't the case. Thanks Emmy for tasting treats for us and maybe proving that theory wrong. :)
Omg I felt so bad. You're reaction to the Tromp bar had me saying "oh hun if you don't like it spit it out." You looked like you really disliked that candy.

I love watching to the very end to see you do something silly, makes my day!
You are so wonderfully sweet for trying all the licorice that you receive, but I can't believe folks are still sending it to you!
I'm dying to go to Iceland!! But since I don't think that'll be possible anytime soon, it's nice to watch this video and imagine the flavors of the candies
My wife and I just got back from Iceland. It certainly seemed to us that Icelanders love their sweets. We sampled several different chocolate bars and they were all very good. We got to try the Sirius Pipp bars in mint AND caramel flavors. I thought the caramel one was delicious. It's too bad you didn't get to sample one here.
I love all your videos! :] It's so fun to watch. I think someone should send Emmy those "Weird" flavored pepsis or other "weird" flavored sodas. I know that in Japan that have a "milk" flavored pepsi and a salty watermelon one!
Emmy, I tell you, at the end of the year, you gonna like liquorice and will be addict to it! 😜 I'm impress on how you committed to your journey and try all those liquorice treats!
I live in Iceland and we now have a dark chocolate pipp bar, much better I think! Also the thing in tromp you thought was marshmallow it was marzipan :)
The laugh at the end LOL!!
I love your random "hi baby"s :D
im from icelnad!!! yay! im so happy right now
Emmy wouldn't it be funny if baby ends up liking salty licorice lol awesome video :) wishing good health and peace for you &family!
"Of course, dahling" :)
i live on iceland and i am glad you like icelandic candy and god luck with the baby!!!
Draumur is my favourite candy ever! If you ever get the opportunity you should try "Hitt" as well. It's the same company that makes draumur and it's so delicious *-*
That bar at 8:30 oh man. I want to try one of those so bad. It looks awesome!
As a Dutch person, licorice is one of my favorite candy's. But the combination of licorice and chocolate seems so weird to me! You are a brave lady Emmy :D
You are so funny and adorable XD i love watching your videos especially when i have a bad day
Nice video! We have in Israel a chocolate bar just like the mint one in the video but it's filled with strawberry gel and I love it..
Iceland is not part of Scandinavia. Scandinavia is Sweden, Norway and Denmark - named so because the Scandinavian Mountain Range passes through those countries. But we're 'unified' as the Nordic countries together with Finland and Iceland.
I love licorice and Iceland has a lot of it,and it's the only place where I have seen licorice ice cream! :) Yes, and Ris bars are my favorite, I take lots back to the UK after my trips to Iceland.
I have a friend in Iceland and she sent me candy and I had a lot of similar reactions. I think the candy in Canada and the US is more sweet typically because I found the licorice to be so bitter...like Opal was just not my thing at all, and I took only one bite from the TROMP bar. To each is own.
Awww ur just so adorable!! first time watching and was very nice
We have a LOT of varieties of chocolate/licorice combos. I love it
Actually, it's Sisu, the letters used on the package are just very old. Not even all Finns now how to pronounciate it :D
Me and my friend are watching your video for the first time and were glad you liked some of the Icelandic candy (were from Iceland) :3
The Bed Bath & Beyond where I live has a world market and I recognized so many foods from your videos
You can also get dark chocolate Pipp here in Iceland. The packing is red
I love this videos and your reactions! Now i want to eat more and more and travel to every country!
lol the end is sooooooooooo funny
I enjoy watching you eat.
Hello Emmy! I'm are from Iceland! Iceland is a cool place😀 Love your vidio!!
if you watch this video with captions on when she says here's my unborn baby the caption says "Use my unborn baby head" I just died laughing my ass off at that.
your pronounciation of the icelandic words, some were pretty spot on :) not many that manage to do that, even if they have lived in iceland for a few years :) and there's so much more types of candy here that you should try some day :) 2 or 3 types of nizza, including liqorish (just tiny half cm bits) and I think the crunchy bits in rís, 2 or 3 of pipp, including caramell and liqorish (liqorish flavored gel thingy)

Emmy you are a ROCKSTAR for trying all of these licorice-flavored treats. I don't like licorice either but I am trying as well..still only a fan of red/twizzler licorice. I guess those of us that live in the States just don't like it as much as the rest of the world! ;)
LOL I loved that ending hahaha
The ending cracked me up!
Probably has been commented on already, but "Tromp" is liqourice/marzipan covered in chocolate
This lady is adorable!
I'm from Iceland and I have eaten all of these sweets!
Pipp is also available with dark chocolate :)
Hello I am from Iceland :) If you liked the Pipp we actually have 3 other flavors of it! We have Pipp with a banana flavor, caramel and licorice, the banana is the best :)
aww you are having a baby:) congrats ♥
lol enjoyed your video quite much.. love your expressions when you taste.. especially the TROMP face... :P Being Icelandic and enthusiastic chocolate eater.. my mouth is watering over your video... Even though i have it as an arms lenght.. :D You should definately travel over here, because we have a lot more of delicious candy to try... and awesome food, not just the fermented kind.. :)
