Beautiful piece Greg! Loved the delicate semiquavers in the RH in the build-up from bars 50-53. Without getting too over-analytical, I can feel the romantic idealism of Emma Bovary coming through!

​@@GregHarradineComposer Sorry for my first reaction. I don't want to be rude. And you are talented for sure. I just wanted to share my first reaction as a piano player. When listening to it., I started fearing that it could be the result of IA based music engine being requested to produce "a romance in E-flat for piano solo featuring unexpected harmonies and disruptions" .... It's because the melodic line lacks of personality and the left hand follows predictable patterns. Harmonies sounds artificially deep using falsely impressionistic colors. I missed the emotion. Again, it's my personal taste. I guess It's more ambiance music that AI could at some point in the future generate as well. As such it's a good piece. I will follow your work anyway ! We need you.😀

@@visualbrain5810 This is the wonderful thing about music (and art in general) - we all have different tastes! And thank god for that. But I'll just say a couple of things apropos of your comment. Firstly, and pedantically, this piece is in A-flat, not E-flat. Secondly, it is inspired by Flaubert's novel Madame Bovary, in particular the fate of the protagonist, Emma. I tried to represent her romantic idealism through certain predictable harmonies and melodic ideas (so you're right about the music's predictable nature, that was deliberate). Any more surprising harmonic movements represent her heading towards her eventual doom - the romance has to die (as does she). I must admit to being fond of this piece - of course I am, or I wouldn't have composed it or shared it. But you are entitled to your opinion - it gave me food for thought, and I thank you for it!
