Emma was right… Lulu played amazing yesterday, she was swinging freely and hitting her spots. Her shots had tremendous pace and really troubled Emma. Emma fought well but at the end of the day, the better player on the day won. Lulu may be a qualifier, but much like Emma at the US Open 2021,, she can dismantle many good players if she keeps playing the way she did.

Lulu was playing her best tennis. She played aggressively and swung freely. Her confidence was high, having built that up after beating several good players. I noted that basically she had zero unforced errors in the first set and the first part of the second set. She was very much like Raducanu in her 2021 us open campaign. She was a better player. The two played at the ITF one or two times before and Raducanu won those matches.

No individual sports person or team (e.g. England football team) can live up to the media hype generated by several UK-based publications/broadcasters. The expectations are so high and the pressure off the charts. Raducanu would benefit from less media attention. Our media tend to build teams/individuals up only to knock them down as soon as they do not meet the expectations generated across the media.

@@cometcal2 I appreciate your saying that Raducanu's career has been 'brief'. You know it but so many, including the haters of course, don't. Raducanu is now roughly 21 1/2. Other players of her age have been competing full time on the court for 6 1/2 years because they all started at 15. But Raducanu started only at 18 1/2 after completing her high school education. On paper she has 3 years court experience but 1 year has to be deducted due to injuries. So, her actual court experience is only 2 years (compared to 6 1/2 years for players of her age). In my opinion she is definitely a talent and her achievements will be big.

As Scottish person watching this. I am not biased and I would like to state that I think Raducanu is clearly a very young talented Tennis player who has a bright future ahead of her however the injuries and the pressure from the media have clearly got to her. I still don’t know why she pulled out from the doubles match with Andy Murray I feel it was somewhat disgraceful and her decision however, she has to learn for the future consequences that sometimes impact someone’s reputation and I think what she needs to do is about that back up again at a slow steady pace.

It wasn't priority to her. Nice extra but not priority for her. Murray would have done same and prioritised. Emma's doing great co sidering injuries, pressure, schedule. Emma wasn't quite at her absolute best, and she needed to be cus Lulu was playing lights out hitting so many lines! Emma fought so hard and did everything she could. She was truthful, her server wasn't on top form due to back issue. And she did the right thing pulling out mixed doubles to focus on singles! Andy would have done exactly the same!! He NEVER played doubles or mixed on tour! So he shouldn't whine about Emma pulling out! It wasn't her fault it was the scheduling! Why should she comprise her singles chances just to pander to Murray's farewell "exhibition" match!! His brother just gave up a chance at a Wimbledon's Double Title to waste this year playing doubles with his brother! Yet he's never ever played doubles with his brother in a Slam before! Emma had to put her chances first, as ANDY has always done!! Haters need to get a grip, Andy can still have another farewell next year if he wants, and I'm betting he will too!! 😂
