Great work. I just build a small (1000 Teu) Containerfeeder in 1:100. I also started with styrofoam. But after getting the shape I put glasfiber on it. So I got i nice hull. Then I made some frames and glued it on the inside of the hull. But I really like your way. Now I know how to get a wooden hull from scratch. That’s great

Thank you for your comments. I think that the fiberglass will destroy the foam. You can try to test it first with fiberglass. Mounting kit is the best glue for foam. Other glue can also destroy the foam. That`s why i did use mounting kit and balsa wood for the hull covering.

You do very good work sir. My main problem is in obtaining the proper shape of the hull, I like your technique and may adapt it for my own use. I primarily build warships and would like to build a scratch model of my first ship, a Spruance class destroyer for radio control. Thank you for the inspiration.

A lovely model. Have you considered carving a solid hull from lime / basswood? I am working on an early 1:200 Cunard liner at the moment and basswood carves very easily and is not an expensive wood.

Hello, You can probably get photos of the ship are interested in building. You can the specs on the internet. Then you can decide the scale you wish to build. Hope this helps.

My neighbor was employed there for more than 25 years and has helped to build many container ships in the yard closed. Can I ask you for the music (guitar) as a player who is it? - Thanks :-)

I did not want to rate this build because I was not sure if what I was seeing was a full scratch build as described or a mostly scratch build, since you did not show the making of the tower, the fore or aft decks. These look like details provided from a kit. And if they too are scratch-built, then why didn't you show us how you went about making them? You achieved a very nice result, but you left out a lot. A lot a lot.
