As a Leinster fan it's disheartening to see the club not take these saffa games seriously yet Bulls did the same last week and the media had a meltdown over it. Well done lions NH needs to do better.

Don't get me wrong, I think its awesome that the Saffer teams are in this competition but the logistics and cost of going to these away matches is very much a thing. Additionally, anyone who knows anything about the game or Leinster can see what this was a B-C team. And why not? Leinster have earned the right to do this. Despite this loss they are still top of the table and it makes perfect sense to let key players rest. They are not machines to be exploited. Whatever about the buzz.. 'disgrace' is too harsh a word I'm afraid.

@@user-br9ne9gl5t It was predominently a Leinster B side but players like Frawley, Healy etc also started. We keep hearing about Leinsters amazing strength in depth but I'm not seeing it. That Leinster side yesterday should've performed much better than they did. They were absolutely hockeyed by an average side.

@@PB22559 Couldn't agree more. Frankly though I feel there is a bigger point to be made here... people really need to stop taking pundits perspective as gospel. I find it amazing if let's say an Irish pundit says a thing... all of a sudden the whole planet seem to think that that is what the average Irishman thinks. In many contexts this couldn't be further from the truth. Yet time and time again people seem to enjoy being naïve enough to think that this is actually the case. Unfortunately the more success a team has the more it pays the price for this stupidity. There are a gazillion examples of this and it's just history repeating itself but folks just can't seem to let themselves get duped every time. Let me just give you one for the sake of clarification. Half the planet were harping on about Ireland being the best team in the world for the world cup. Here's the irony... I've never met a genuine Irish rugby fan in my life that ever thought Ireland were the best team in the world. But the pundits said it so it must be what they all think. Getting back to your point, I feel Leinster do have a respectable amount of depth comparatively speaking to other teams. A blind man could see that in how successful they have been in recent years no matter what the competition. But this is not to say they still don't have a lot of work to do. This is not to say they can't get monstered like we saw against the Lions. Sometimes you just have an off day. Sometimes the opposition just has your number and hockey you into the stratosphere and sometimes that depth ain't as deep as the experts would have you think.

Now I can't say I am familiar with what all of these folks said but suffice to say they clearly got it very wrong if they did. Are you sure they didn't say could win instead of would win? Might want to do some fact checking there. They still don't get to speak for me but I will say this. Nobody I know said Ireland would win the world cup but a lot of people I know including myself thought it was the first time we genuinely believed we could and if the rugby Gods were kinder we probably could have. But it was not to be. We were beaten by the better side on the day. Who knows.. maybe it was down to our lack of depth again ;p

12k supporters ain’t what you call an empty stadium 😂 its just our stadium can hold 40k so of course au the same amount yours will be at capacity while ours has plenty of room. Although Lions have been known to have expensive tickets. I miss Newlands thought, its so huge but actually feels tight. 30k supporters but you still feel like you almost on the field wherever you are except boxes. Best stadium honestly a shame that its over.

Many buildings have been hijacked by illegal African immigrants who partake in all sorts of nefarious activities. South Africans are very reluctant to go to the city. We get all our errands done at a mall. It's just safer to stay at home, have a braai and beers with family and friends than to venture into potential danger. 🤞🇿🇦 I wonder in the soccer stadium in Nasrec can be used. It's an amazing stadium in a safe location in Joburg.

Congrats to the Lions, you can only beat the team put infront of you and Leinster probably weren't expecting that scoreline. Personally, I think the big long-term investment needed in SA rugby is to build a dedicated and appropriately sized club rugby stadium for each of their URC teams and keep the big municipal stadiums back for the biggest games. It is much easier to grow attendances when the matchday experience has a sense of occasion and intensity.

I know for a fact that Leinster along with a plethora of other teams have carried out this practice and if you know the game like I do you will understand perfectly why. It is my view that Bulls were perfectly in their rights to field who they wanted once it remained within the constraints of the competition which it did. People are attacking the symptom and not the cause. And as I feel Leinster like Bulls have done nothing wrong I will totally stand and defend and or exonerate as I see fit in this regard. I still do not understand why people are attacking Leinster here. They have done nothing wrong.

You may want to notice that the EPCR (who had objections against the Bulls leaving everybody home) and World Rugby are 2 different organisations. EPCR runs the Champions Cup, so of course they have objections to one of the teams devauling their competition by sending a B team. World Rugby has nothing to do with the URC, why would they have anything to say about the line-ups?
