But Cid got knocked out by the soldier since he is role playing as weak NPC who is trying to protect the woman he loves. Afterwards the kind hearted Marie protected Cid by giving all of her money of her tavern and pleaded them to leave the area.

I really can't get into this series, there's no real substance, plot progression, character development, or struggle. Just Cid living his unchallenged perfect life while everyone licks his ass. 😒

No, this anime since the beginning has not focused on character development, which is literally the reason why it got so popular and got the second season in just six months or two seasons. Also, most Isekai anime have no character development, which doesn't mean it will be bad. There is a plot progression that focuses on the shadow garden and how they will destroy the cult of Diablos; however, since CId is the MC, who doesn't want to be an MC, acting like a background character, which is what he wants, it doesn't feel like there is no plot progression, which means the plot is not focused on him but on supporting characters like Alpha, Rose, and Claire, who will be the MC this season. Last season, Rose was the MC, since CId got most screen time most of the time and he almost didn't do anything except get in the middle of something. That was also the reason why you said what you said. This is just my opinion; everyone has their own opinion, of course.

@@Rakadipradana I think there's plenty of Isekai with character development. Overlord, Re Zero, Mushoku Tensei, Shield Hero, and Reincarnated as A Slime, to name a few.

@@saljpal3 I agree with all of that except for Overlord. Momon has already been OP since the beginning of the anime, but most of Isekai's MCs are OP without any training whatsoever, and this is the reason why Isekai animes always get negative responses. I mean, if we look back before Cid got reincarnated into the Isekai, he was already so OP because he loved training and even mastering every martial art. When he got to the isekai, he was training a lot, but it happened before he got into the academy. That's why, when he saved Rose when they were in childhood, he told her that he was still training, which is why he didn't have a'shadow' identity at first. By the way, I'm just giving my opinion; however, Eminence in Shadow is not even on my top 3 isekai anime list. MK, Rezero, and Tensura are at the moment on my top 3 isekai anime lists.

@@Rakadipradana Being OP doesn't stop someone from having character development. The struggles, emotional conflicts, and burdens of livings up to others expectations are all things that gave Ainz character development. Cid had no struggles, expectations or challenges to deal with whatsoever. His entire life has just been him doing everything exactly the way he wants without a care in the world and playing around like a kid in a sand box. Also my top three isekai are Overlord, Mushoku Tensei, and Re Zero.

@@saljpal3 Cuz it's a comedy that pretends to be serious in the most obvious way possible. The plot itself is always progressing, but Cid will always stay the same. It create a contrast in a world where everyone is in a very serious situation, and then there's this one legitimately insane dude who just wreak havoc while being oblivious to everything. It's obvious that they give every other important characters their own development while they give Cid none of it. Because it fit with the theme of the story and it's funny to see how different it is in his perspective compare to the others.

The top left trio can't help to have an annoyed face through all the episode. Everybody else is laughing and enjoying and that trio just souring all the mashup with their hand holding their chins. It would be much better to change them or at least have them smaller in future mashups of the series.
