I agree with Stevie, Slaughterhouse was "too much". I think their lyricism and overall intelligence is too much for simple minds which make up majority of listeners in recent times

Eminem talking about slaughterhouse "Without a doubt one of the best group to ever happen. All 4 of them. As far as the money problems joe talked about I honestly don't know if I made a dime out of slaughterhouse and I don't care if I made nothing. I believed in them as a group . I wanted them to be huge man I wanted a group that lyrical to just bust through everything and it really hurt my feelings when the album didn't do well it's like you talk about polished beats but listen to how they are rhyming though. I got hell from that too on the internet back then. " Why is eminem always bringing those wack beats? it ruins the album" but I didn't even make any beats on that album. I just added some touches here and there when it was already finished to bring out the production a bit but you're critiquing these wordsmiths without listening to the quality of the pen game which is the most important thing " You can tell Eminem wanted them to be the Wu Tang of this generation

Facts bro. You could tell in that interview that he truly felt bad bout them not blowing up bigger. It also got to him that he was catching the heat from it. Not, cause he cared bout himself getting criticized but he didn't wanna have them catching it because of him. So much that on Glass House, he said he took himself out the equation completely. Told the group, that he won't touch anything and they can do whatever they wanted & how they wanted. The usual Em haters can eat a D. I think at this point in his career everyone knows how much Em cares about the genre and the game. He's as much if not more a fan of hip hop, lyrism and the culture than anyone else in the game. As far as Joe's considered. You gotta look who's saying the ish.. Everything coming out his mouth should be taken with a grain of salt. He's bi polar than a mfer and has blamed everyone else but himself throughout his career for all the broken relationships etc. Idgof even the Em haters gotta know that Em wouldn't be trying to scam Slaughterhouse or Joe. He didn't sign Slaughterhouse cause he thought it would fatten his bank account. It was cause he respected all the members pen game and wanted them to blow up. Plus, he's the only member of the group who has said anything like that and the only one who tried putting Em on blast. Obviously, Royce would have his back. But, both Crook & Royce are on record saying they got paid. And all 3 are on record blaming Joe. A 3 said that Buddens is the only reason we aren't getting Glass House or new Slaughterhouse music. Em agreed to a full release out their contract if they want. I wish Joe would at least let them release the joints that are aleady done from Glass House. If Em is willing to put all the ish aside for the sake of the fans to hear the Slaughterhouse, why the fluck can't Joe's narcissistic ass do so? Free, Glass House... do it for the fans and the game Joe.

12:44 Thank you Stevie, I also believe it's one of the things that kinda worked against them, they came up in a generation that wouldn't bother to break bars down. a generation that was it was not 'hot' to 'think' ................a generation that thought that it was 'too much work' to have to think I mean the ones that don't want to use their brain complain about what Em is doing now, saying he got too many bars

  • @brandons2640

i think the main complaint with em now is he sacrificing the musical side for the lyrical, and you gotta be a straight lyrical head to really appreciate his music now, once i break down the bars of his songs the musical aspect isnt that replay-able to me so the songs are done after i break the bars down, theres some crazy flows/cadences that bring me back to a handful of songs tho

People who came up during the big mixtape era of the mid to late 2000’s remember how good Budden was on the Mood Muzik series. He was top tier lyrically at that point. Royce’s Bar Exam series is still probably my favorite Royce (even though he’s better lyrically now, I liked his style back then a little more). Same thing when Ortiz dropped “Who the Fuck is Joell Ortiz” with the song Hip Hop on it when his adlibs were “aaawwwww mannnn.” Crooked I was the only one I wasn’t super familiar with back then because, honestly, I didn’t fuck with much west coast hip hop because I was a pretentious asshat that only cared about technical lyricism. But when I heard him on Slaughterhouse, I went back and got all his old stuff. When this group dropped their original song Onslaught, I listened to it so much I had it memorized in like a week. Left for basic training in the Army shortly after. Reciting that song in my head got me through so many ruck marches haha. I was ecstatic when this group formed. Wish more would have came from it, but still love what they made in the time they were together.

Stevie you need to bring some of your Eminem hater friends to the crib and go through some hard Eminem songs and persuade them and make them realize his talent, do it once a month or so and make it a series called Eminem hater persuader or something similar

PLEAAASE Stivie put that STAY WIDE AWAKE vid on utube; I've been waiting to see you watch that colored version. dude uses Excel to rap, column based rap, that's Relaps and fqs say Relaps was sh1t; My 2nd fav Em album ever (cause I like the whole True Crime genre and Album's dark as fq atmosphere)
