We saved you in World War Two? As a Canadian referencing BOTH World Wars, we all showed up on time. The Americans wandered in late but took all of the credit. Had the rest of us not been there … on time … there would not have been anything left to save. Contribution? Yes. But taking sole credit? Not so much. This is, unfortunately for me, a major historical vexation. On a lighter note, Emily Blunt is a treasure.

Well, a Sunday roast is our English tradition (delicious one) and so perhaps it’s too much for some other people to appreciate cause it’s what we all grew up on, a dinner that almost all the family can agree on. Plus it’s our way of having a miniature feast. There is a lot more that goes into our Christmas Dinners but how much of a miserable time we’d have if we didn’t have a Sunday Roast. Makes Sundays the best before Monday comes. 🥰

@@ananthkrishnakp1770 To whom are you referring to as "you people?" Are you attempting to compartmentalize the disparate, multicultural British people as a singular? Are you questioning my expression of admiration for Emily Blunts observational, tongue in cheek portrayal of British accent and values? Are you attempting to demean my praise of Emily when she argues the nuances of the American bastardisasion of the English language with Americans? I am also cognisant of the derivation of the diverse origins of the language. I'm 62 and went to school in the 60/70s and no in my school we weren't really educated about colonialism but they were very different times. I cannot speak on the current school curriculum. You ask if we "people" are aware of British colonial history. Well, I lived for 12 years in Zimbabwe, formerly Rhodesia so I am more than aware of the rights and wrongs of colonial practice. So your message appears to suggest that a British lady on a youtube video, extolling the virtues of trying to retain a semblance of originality to the vernacular that I personally am proud of Is an indication that you consider the collective British people en-masse are ignorant of the current day, right and proper attitudes toward our history? You can't erase history but you can learn from it. Anyone who conflates the content of this video with colonial history is clutching at straws. We have many problems and issues in this country with racism and history. I personally am well aware of them and don't feel this is the platform to explore them. So what's your point?

OMG first British roast was actually New Year’s Eve (Hogmanay) in Edinburgh. Drinks at 1pm, with finger food till 6pm and hilarious family party games. Delicious cocktail called a Bahama mama was being poured by the family matriarch Brenda (bless). Wasted by dinner… full 4 course roast dinner with more drinks… add in brisk walk at 11pm in minus 1 degree weather around the local park pond lake to let the cool night wake you up. Desert by 12am. More drinks with my brother his wife and Scottish family… cab back to the hotel by 2am. LOL 😂
