    What a great story. I still would have thought of 100 things to do to keep the boys occupied for a few hours and not risk frostbite considering children were sent into the cold snow unprepared for a hike to begin with. Your troubles started because the adults made bad decisions. Luckily you kept your feet.

    Love these fireside chats! Relying on Father and Heaven and putting trust in Him is MUCH safer than trusting in the arm of flesh. We MUST have faith to act and follow the Savior, Jesus Christ and His chosen servants. :) . Thanks for sharing.

    What a fabulous story! And I want you to know, Emily Belle Freeman, I heard the story about your diabetic son on another video earlier today. I am a physician who developed type I diabetes at age 51. Now I’m nearing 70. Notwithstanding the age difference, I know exactly how you must have felt and how your son must have felt when that diagnosis was made. I don’t know much about either of you now, but I want you to know things will work out. I know you know that already. Thanks for being who you are and doing what you do.

    The beginning of watching this I was thinking... "Why haven't you turned back?! Frost bite is a real danger! You shouldn't be continuing up the mountain!" Glad I continued watching. Seems like a real life example of how much easier life is when you continue to push through. You could have turned back, but it would have been so much harder if you had. Just like other challenges in life, people will turn back before they can finish just to look back and think "I wish I would have finished what I started! Look how much easier things would be right now if I would have just finished instead of giving up because the task seemed to hard."

    Thank you for reminding us that the Lord is aware of our needs and helps us overcome and/or push through challenges. One thing I would like to add is that we still must do our part to be prepared. Moses and the Children of Israel had supplies and had the Arc and Covenant. When they crossed the Red Sea, they already had those things that they would need to have with them once they crossed over to other side of Sea. Just because people have had experience with camping or with an organization that is supposed to help you be prepared, doesn't mean you don't have to be prepared ahead time for a new journey or activity. Please be smart and do your part to be prepared and God will help you with the rest.

    I thought about that too but she said that the principal during that time was talking about the trees here and there. So the spot on top of the mountain is the perfect spot to slide.

    Why would Boy Scout adult men have kids wear tennis shoes to climb a mountain AND walk in snow. It’s frost bite and an accident waiting to happen.

  • @oefish9

    @oefish9

    Kat Bos I think the kid showed up in tennis shoes since it was a class trip. It was dads who were chaperones and scouts-but not necessarily that kid’s dad. Maybe they didn’t notice his feet or weren’t aware of the amount of snow up there before they left.
