Never heard of a bonsai wooden box but Minnesota has plenty of wood and a short growing season so, YES I will be using bonsai boxes now! Plus very inexpensive compared to other pots.

I'd like to see a deeper dive into what goes into diagnosing this situation. What signs do you look for that makes you want to slip it into the wood box for rehab? To be honest the tree looks relatively healthy from my phone screen. Lol

Same, I don't fully understand what constitutes an emergency, at least looking from the outside. Would love to learn how not to kill things though! 😅

Would a wire basket, made with 1/2" stainless hardware cloth and lined with landscape fabric be ideal for drainage, air-pruning the roots being the prime benefit otherwise?

I want to make air layerings on a Trident Maple next spring, can I repot the bottom part the tree on late spring after removing the layerings?
