One of THE best songs ever...

she is such a soul singer that just makes me feel so good

I'm 60..I keep saying that there are no really good songs any more, and modern music is garbage...then a song like this one comes out, and proves I'm wrong more often than I'm right. :-)

Same age Les, I agree with you 100% on this one, mind you I have always listened to Emeli since my Youngest daughter introduced me to her voice, She reminds me of Dusty Springfield, Not in her voice, but in her passion for the song, she has the same attitude as Dusty, sing it straight sing it raw and sing it well

2022, still here with Emeli, loving her music.

I first heard this in a hospital. It just so happened that I was randomly passing by the channel that showed the Brits Awards (2017). I remember much feeling better the moment I heard her sing and felt comforted by her singing. This song will always have a special place in my heart.

In the chorus it sounds like she is piercing loads of ready meals with a knife.

My wife was diagnosed with the big C around this time. This album was a bit of a companion for me during that time. It gave me the strength on the outside to be strong for her… but gave me those private moments when I could cry without her knowing. Thank you x
