    All of my favorite hats have the puffed looked and have always loved the look and wondered how is was done. Recently I started hand embroidery to pass the time and wanted to see if I could ever accomplish that level of detail. This video is great and explains everything, I don't have a machine but now I understand the effect.

  • @ricomatv

    @ricomatv

    Hi Dawna, the EM-1010 is able to do 3D embroidery. If you are looking to do 3D embroidery as a business we recommend our 1501-TC or MT-1501 as they are our commercial machines and are equipped with bigger motors and can handle larger orders. Our EM-1010 is more of a hobbyist machine, so if that is what you're looking for then it will get the job done. If you'd like to find out more about our machines fill out the form on the following page and someone will gladly answer all of your questions: www.ricoma.us/contactus

  • @ricomatv

    Hello MK Buddy, great question. You want to have to satin below the puff overlap where the puff will be about 15%-20% to avoid gaps between the puff and the regular satin stitch underneath because the thread contracts when stitched. Hope this answers your question.

    Is there any other adjustments that need to be done? I am having thread breaks only when using 3mm foam on a structured cap and 80/12 needle .... should I Do something different with tension?

    We suggest to switch out the needle to 75/11. Sometimes a thick needles is not good when running so many layers!

    Hello, is there an additional step to set this up to tell the machine that this is a 3D design? Would love to see a video from start to finish on this type of design. Thanks so much.

    Not really, but if you’re not getting good results, slightly looser tension gives better results on puff. But wouldn’t mess with it if no issues

    You can use a regular 75/11 needle! It totally depends on the detail you want to create or a specific cap you want to do.

    What size puff foam you guys recommend for hats?

  • @ricomatv

    @ricomatv

    2 жыл бұрын

    HI there, thanks so much for watching. We suggest the following: - Matching the foam color to your thread. - Using 80/12 needles which work best for cutting into the foam without leaving extra poking out. - Matching foam thickness to the width of the stitches you are working with. If you are embroidering with a thick layer of 3d foam (typically 2 to 3 millimeters), consider raising your presser foot to 1.5 to 2 millimeters to accommodate for this extra layer.
