Embroidery For Beginners // How To Do Cross Stitch Letters

In this video you will get an up-close view how I cross stitch, and specifically how I do my cross stitch letters. I am hopeful this video will help even just one person master their cross stitch letters! You may also be here because you purchased one of my cross stitch patterns, and if that is the case - thank you so much for your purchase and your support.
If it does help you at all, please subscribe to my channel, as I will be uploading videos much more frequently than in the past.
Thank you for your time and happy stitching!

I’m still learning, and the graph counting how many stitches per different stitch is genius!!!

I'm glad it helped you and is making sense! Just know I've been stitching for 8 years now, so never compare your work or progress to anyone else. It's definitely beneficial to learn from others and that's all I try to share on my channel, so I'm glad you enjoyed! There is no right time frame or right way to stitch, honestly. Just do what works for you and looks good and enjoy the process!! ♡

What program did you get? There are so many of them. Can you recommend?

Hey Sharon! So I create my patterns on graph paper and centre each line by doing a little basic math. Then I add any floral components randomly. When I go to make the pattern to sell, I used to make them by hand in Photoshop *which was not fun lol* and then last year I discovered Stitch Fiddle and absolutely love it :) I pay monthly for a few extra features but there IS ALSO a free version with the basics included!

When you are going vertical are you still doing X’s because when I get to the second X and I place the first / it pulls up thread from the last one? So do you go through a different hole? Or is it through the last one? Does that make sense? I’m using a stamped kit

Hi Colleen! You mean when going vertical with a classic cross stitch (X) or when going vertical doing the straight stitch to outline the larger letters? Either way, you always want to avoid coming up the hole you JUST went through or the stitch won't work and will come undone. Any other hole in the Aida will work fine though :)

@@andreabeiko I mean you when you have made your X and you are going to make your next X do you have to use a different hole altogether because when I tried making them side by side with each other the threads from the first stitch were getting “pulled up” I hope that I am explaining this correctly

I think I might understand it now but I’m still confused on how you put the X’s next to each other either vertically or horizontally without skipping an X. I’m using a pre-stamped kit and I used to be able to do it 20 years ago? Ugg
