Explore the world of Embraer and their remarkable aircraft, including the Embraer E2 175, E2 190, and E2 195. Brazil, known for its vibrant culture and world-class soccer, is also home to Embraer, a leading manufacturer of elegant regional airliners.
In a post-pandemic world, the demand for efficient regional aircraft soared, and Embraer seemed poised for success. However, global giants Boeing and Airbus, ever vigilant for opportunities, jumped into the fray, challenging the Brazilian manufacturer's dominance.
Designed to replace the popular E-Jet series, the E2 promised innovation and efficiency. Yet, airlines appeared hesitant to embrace this new Brazilian beauty. Recent massive orders for other aircraft types have left the E2 series in the shadows.
Join us as we delve into the resurgence of air travel and whether it could breathe new life into these Brazilian ladies, who some say may have danced their last Samba.
Was Embraer Doomed From The Start?
The aviation industry is highly competitive, with Boeing and Airbus dominating the market. Embraer, a relatively newer player, entered the commercial aviation scene in the '90s, going head-to-head with the industry giants.
It wasn't until the E-Jet that Embraer gained significant market share. However, Airbus and Boeing upped the ante with the A320neo and 737 MAX, diverting airlines' attention away from the E-Jet.
Embraer responded with the E-2 program, focusing on engine improvements, new wings, upgraded landing gear, and modern avionics to create an efficient plane that could compete.
Bringing The Original E-Jet Into The Future Of Aviation
The E2 program, aptly named "The Profit Hunter," retained the E-Jet's fuselage but incorporated state-of-the-art upgrades. Three variants, E175-E2, E190-E2, and E195-E2, catered to varying needs in terms of capacity, range, and power plants.
Embraer equipped these jets with Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines, chosen to address rising fuel costs and deliver significant savings. Performance-wise, these aircraft are impressive, boasting top speeds, high ceilings, extended ranges, and remarkable noise reduction.
Escape To Africa?
Embraer's E2 series may find a new home in the growing African market, where demand for regional aircraft is on the rise. African airlines, facing challenges of aging fleets and under-booked regional flights, could benefit from the E2's ideal balance of range and capacity.
While challenges persist, recent deals indicate hope for the E2's future. Porter Airlines, American Airlines, and Binter have all shown confidence in these Brazilian machines.
In the ever-evolving aviation landscape, Boeing and Airbus continue to dominate the narrowbody market with the B737 Max and A320neo. Can Embraer regain market share, or will the E2 project be seen as a misstep?

Hence why the Chinese CCP are all over Africa. They are going in hard.
I am a FIFO (Fly In Fly Out) worker in Australia. We have just change charter flights from the Focker 100 (I think Aust has the most Focker's still in service) The E190 has great seats but poor head rests, good air vents, yes seems much quieter than the old Focker
The E2 jet is good regional aircraft for South East Asia. Scoot has been using E2 jet for now. Embraer need to explore new opportunity on newly setup airline in Sarawak, Timor-Leste & Thailand.
Luxair did place a firm order for 4 new E195 E2’s last week, plus signed an option for 5 further Embraer E-Jets.

They have two routes to LCY, LUX-LCY (very popular route) and ANR-LCY. The E195-E2 being the largest aircraft that can land in LCY makes it a logical choice.
Technology and competence

I know that it's a bit of a fatuous comment, but who came up with that paint job? On such little things are fortunes won and lost.

Embraer's marketing.
10 going to Porter… nope Porter has 75 confirmed purchases and the option for another 25.

Ironcally the E-2 has less range than the A220, but Porter seems to make it work o.k.
What is the passengers seating for E195? Is it around 195 seats? Is it around 215 seat like the B737NG or the A320 or A321? It’s the 200 seat range that it’s most competive.

American Airlines placed an order for 133 Embraer planes this month, at London City Airport. 70% of landings and takeoffs are on Embraer planes, as they are quieter and use less fuel... Embraer saved Ilha Airport of St Helena from being closed, as no plane was able to land on the Island due to the strong winds, only the E-190 managed, and saved the Airport, images from this Platform below. kzread.info/dash/bejne/f4x4y8eSprzYlLg.html Thank you.
