Embracing Our Inner Selves w/ Internal Family Systems | Seth Allison | The Bigger Picture Podcast

In today's episode, I dive deep into the fascinating world of Internal Family Systems (IFS) with returning guest Seth Allison. We explore Richard Schwartz's groundbreaking book "No Bad Parts," tracing the history and development of IFS, particularly its origins with eating disordered patients, and the paradigm shift it introduces away from a mono-mind approach.
We delve into the core components of IFS, exploring the distinct roles of Exiles, Firefighters, and Protectors. According to IFS - there are no bad parts, only bad roles.
To make it more personal, I share my initial encounter with IFS and the profound impact it had on me. Join me as Seth Allison guides me through an insightful IFS session, as I meet and interact with an internal Protector.
If you're curious about unlocking the mysteries of your inner world and understanding the dynamics of Internal Family Systems, this episode is a must-watch! Don't forget to like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments below. Let's embark on this journey of self-discovery together!

You went to a dark area about how the fragmented self works with the best of intentions even when it is evil, this is a fascinating area of psychology, but I think you caught Mr. Allison off guard. Still, I admire you for going there at all. There is a conduit along that line that goes deep into psychopathy, and the predator mindset that sadly is misinterpreted as having empathy for the offender, and yet it opens a door into the inner workings of a disordered mind, and possibly the chance to help the worst of us to be better in relation to others, it is certainly an idea that makes many uncomfortable and that is too bad. Understanding exceeds ignorance, always, and yet sometimes it seems easier to label something as evil and leave it at that. But, I really admire your grit for going there.
