Embracing Awkwardness | Richard Kuo | TEDxYouth@CityOfIndustry

Social anxiety is a common problem amongst many individuals. It's actually perhaps one of the main reasons why public reason has been voted as the number one fear in humanity. In this engaging talks, Richard shares his secret to overcoming this problem by embracing his awkwardness on stage and challenging audiences to do the same.
Richard Kuo grew up convinced he was overweight, unintelligent, and a good-for-nothing child. He lived much of his early life with low self-esteem and little motivation towards succeeding in school and life. Today, Richard utilizes his story of overcoming negative self-talk and making bold life-changing decisions, such as quitting his 9-5 job to pursue his dreams, to empower thousands of students around the world to realize on their own that everything they need to succeed is inside of them; not outside of them.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Great to see how he changed himself from being a shy dude to being like this. This provides hope for the rest of us struggling.

Great video, what you said makes a huge amount of sense. I think we all change the way we act for fear of ridicule every day, when really like you said we should be embracing who we are.

I really liked your sharing and I think those are excellent ideas. Its just that I'm from a conservative Asian city and being openly awkward could translate into being boycotted/bullied by peers. :(

For me, life would be like if I gave up being judged I would be so confident that I could things I would do now like, talk to my crush or speak out loud in class. I would be the baddest "b" ever!!
