by Kevin Samuels trying to develop higher level responsibility on my job. Got my master’s in the field (public health) and I work for county government (Los Angeles). Stable, but stuck in dead end clerical position because they won’t give me opportunities to grow professionally. Have the experience and work ethic. So I’m taking time to teach myself new data management/ statistical tools and excel at it with a personal timeline. Eventually they won’t be able to deny me because of my skills. Learning to be more assertive

Don’t even bother.” I thought otherwise. He introduced us anyway. My brother chatted with her afterwards. He said she thought I was the most arrogant SOB she ever met. The more I wanted to accomplish, the quieter I learned to become. If you waste too much time speaking about what you're going to do, you'll have no time left to actually do it. And the best part is, once you accomplish your goals, they'll speak so loudly, you won't even have to say a damn word to anyone.

This is called an abundance mindset. Wealthy people understand that there is enough money to go around if you have the motivation and intelligence to go get it. People that aren't successful have a scarcity mindset, they believe that they would be rich if you weren't Rich first. That you're somehow taking all the money from them or they would have made it

I’m glad you’re trying to get better. There’s so much difference in being kind vs. being a pushover. The wrong type of woman will try to take advantage of a good man. Sorry about your divorce, and I wish you luck in your future. It’s also on guys to seek the right kind of woman. Sometimes it’s a repeating cycle because of choosing the same kind of bad mates over and over. Same thing happens with women who ‘end up with’ abusive and/or low quality men.

I know this is an old vid, but I just got in a fight with my gf over my arrogance. Admittedly… I think I’m better than most people. In every way. I make 6 figures, I’m a war veteran, I’m a SWAT officer, I’m jacked, I’m ripped, I’m good looking and tall, and my best feature is that I’m very smart. My hard work paid off and people notice it. We’ve been going to a new gym lately and a lot of the girls there have been staring at me and acting a little desperate around me. It’s made her insecure and jealous acting. So she’s saying that my ego is out of control and it’s causing issues in the relationship. Literally things were going really well one second and then she had a melt down. I don’t think it’s ok to be an arrogant person and I do want to change that… but I don’t know if I should.

You do not have arrogance, you have Discipline personified. There’s a reason us military men and first responders stick out in a crowd in our bearing, word and action. Subconsciously the population, male and female, will seek us out to know who to get behind when the shit hits the fan. I would bet my Old Veteran ass the traits that you espouse attracted your wife to you in the first place. To shame you for that now over something YOU attained through hard work sacrifice and self control is her shortcoming. Instead of busting your balls, she should be claiming her man and chasing away the other alley cats. She knows the female nature. I’m sure if the rolls were reversed any bug eyed drooler would be dealt with swiftly and “professionally” to make a point to mediate that situation to her need and approval. Don’t change. There are very few MEN of caliber left and your example is needed by many men as what and who they should/could be in the world. Instead of bitching your woman should be blessing you. Be safe out there, complete the mission, and get home to a happy hearth and heart.

This video may not be geared toward women. But as a human being, I felt this, so very much. I have been picked on all my life for being different, and I have always downplayed myself in order to be "accepted". But you're right -- it never mattered what I did, people STILL didn't like me. After a situation with some "mean girls" in my mid 30s, I realized something. I'm not simply "different". I'm actually BETTER than they are. Because the choices they've made, the things they choose to do, the way they treat people -- I don't do ANY of that. It had been hard for me to accept being "better", even back in school. I felt we were all the same, we just had different lives, that's all. I met my husband at 23, and I didn't have to downplay myself to him. So we married (and we are STILL married, I'm 40 and we've been married 16 years, after knowing one another for 9 months). But I still wasn't secure in myself and continued to tone myself down for the world. When that nonsense happened, I realized it was being BETTER that was making me different. And YES -- based on my track record, I have the right to be arrogant about my intelligence, the way I make my decisions, etc etc. So thank you for this. If I'd had this video 20 years ago, I probably would've been happier but it took alot of pain for me to accept and embrace ME, and be okay with being called arrogant, as well. (And just for stats, just in case there are any nay-sayers ready to troll me -- I've basically been married my entire adult life, we have 3 homeschooled children, the oldest of which has graduated at 15, is starting college at 16 and has won $160,000 in scholarships. We have two businesses, one belonging to me and one to him, which employ black people and black contractors. We have land both here AND overseas, and we have investments as well. I'm 5'7", the most I've ever weighed is 160 and that's AFTER having his 3 children and getting older than 35. We still work out and eat moderately healthy. We were financially ambitious people and we are STILL ambitious, and it is that drive that insists that we move forward)

Well that was a happy ending of the highest order! That was a great read/story. Downplaying yourself in order to be accepted - and no matter what you did, it didn't matter etc. You have no idea - even as a man - how much I relate to what you went through. This was my past as well. Nowadays I esteem myself much higher and as I ought to - and the difference is clear, in noticing how others interact with me. My former circle were a bunch of crabs - and I stayed in that bucket for far too long. If only I knew then, what I know now - but better late than never!

If someone's arrogant and got nothing going for them, that's bad. Now if you're self confident and have good balance, that's fine. Some mix being humble and other things together. Others confuse self confidence with arrogance so that's a whole different thing. If you ain't doing any harm to others and you're doing you, then you aren't arrogant.

Very true. I've always been insulted and shamed for wanting to succeed and make it and when I made it my "friends and family" never was happy for me but jealous and would try to make me feel bad. Leave that negative energy. Surround yourself with successful people to keep leveling up.

I was arrogant about a year ago, and life was roiling smooth because of it. I was always firm on my standards and what I expect of myself but people around said things such as " That's not fair" or " It can be that way", Every time the answer was and still very much simple; Life isn't fair. Now that "I'm not arrogant anymore" (according to those who see me in their perceived way) Life has been going down hill as more peers tell it should be this way and not my way. Short story never again will I take advice from women or men who act like women/who bow to women. BE ARROGANT, You could do so much more but because someone has a bad life or they may think they are in a good light you take their terrible advice and apply it without trail first and now your life is worse than if you stayed the way you where. Be a man, never show emotion not even once, a small sign of weakness shows the world you can be hurt by the slightest touch/statement. Don't back down show Dominance. Remember BE ARROGANT.

Happened at my job when boss gave me a project. His idea for it was writing some boring essay to communicate to management. I told him.... this isnt going to gain any traction and make an imprint on management. What we need to do is create a visual presentation with personality, graphics, the new idea of what the website could be in....complete visual form. Told him id do it on my own time but wouldnt do it his way as it was a waste of time in his format. He objected and kept saying it was a great opportunity. I said no. Essays arent how you create change for a website. You have to show problems via video where a person is interacting with it. I was let go a few months later and so was he. Meanwhile ive surpassed him comparing linked in profiles. The dull and limited shall remain below. Keep pushing through. They are the enemies of progress, intelligence, and creativity

Success should not be announced. Real confidence comes from the deep knowing that you are good enough. Achievement that is announced is perceived as arrogance. Not only is it perceived as arrogance but it is a sign of deep insecurity from the necessity to get validation from outside sources. Your inner validation should come from your achievements and your work.

I'm gonna have to disagree here. As humans we are social creatures. Not all occupations, goals, and accomplishments come with an audience or witnesses. Confidence does come from within to attain that success, but once you've attained it, there's nothing worse than seeing others celebrated for far less. I do think that it is an insecurity, but that kind of insecurity isn't exclusive to the one who isn't validated for their success. Throughout the Bible we're encouraged to give all credit and glory to God. He doesn't "need it" but why do you think it's encouraged. We're made in God's image. Not just our appearance, but our emotions as well. Hate, love, anger, and jealousy are all emotions that have described God in the Bible and these are all emotions we have as humans. When you live among a generation where only women and men chosen by women are openly praised and celebrated, men must announce their success, especially to those who "claim" to know him. Because otherwise you don't exist. And if you feel like you don't exist, what's the point of being alive? That's why men kill themselves. I'd much rather have them announce their success and go on living, at the chagrin of a few haters...then keep their accomplishments hidden, non-existing, for the sake of today's modern society, only to get a call one day that they've slit their wrists in the bathtub.

6:04 is the best way to describe how I've dumbed myself down literally. I love to dress business casual and sometimes it may be a bit too much for some one working in IT. So, I started to dress down with baggy pants, plain shirts, dusty shoes just to fit in and not look like I'm better than everyone else. Now, after seeing this. Fudge cake it, I'm going to keep my hair tapered, wear my cologne, dress shirts, boots and all, damn if I'm a IT professional or out in public.

I have a supervisor who prides herself in "dressing for comfort" but gives me back handed compliments when I'm dressed for success in my dress, shoes, and accessories. Asked me if I was going to a wedding a couple weeks ago I'll never forget that. The week after, she started dressing up too. Not for herself, but out of jealousy. She didn't last a full week and I does this everyday. Show up and show out every time. We all have a choice. Choose to be great!

Bro, that sounds like me twenty years ago. I was working in IT but also had side projects, so I was flush with cash. I always dressed sharp, and had designer bags, shoes etc. The other IT staff had little fashion sense or if they did, it didn’t follow them into the office. They hated me, but I didn’t dress down to fit in. I was also quite young, and wasn’t paper qualified like my colleagues, but I felt they resented me for securing an IT job without the paper certificates 😂 Long story short, no body in the team really liked me, but I was popular in other areas of the firm, as well as being popular with the ladies. It was a girlfriend that enlightened me to the fact that they were just jealous. They were Just a bunch of haters. I recall the looks on their faces when I showed up at an office party with a 6ft tall blonde model girlfriend, priceless. They couldn’t believe their eyes and wonders how my short 5.7” black Tupac looking ass, did it 😂🤣👍🏾
