I think the words of Marcus Garvey, apply here. Marcus Garvey gave in Menelik Hall in Sydney, Nova Scotia in October 1937: “We are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery because whilst others might free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind. Mind is your only ruler, sovereign. The man who is not able to develop and use his mind is bound to be the slave of the other man who uses his mind, because man is related to man under all circumstances for good or ill.”

Fully agree Sir, a great gift only if we can collectively seize the opportunity and run with it,the clock is ticking!!! Lie's are detrimental, even today 74 million Americans believe that the elections were fraudulent and despite 6thJan attack on the Capitol the lies are growing bigger and what is simmering in that horrific pot,is no one's guesses if it we're to be everyone guesses then we must have been in such an experience before but never, ever in the American history has suchlike practices happen. 2 300 soldiers are daily protecting America from Americans!!! So sad! se

Until we know and appreciate who we are, we will forever be fighting those lies . Is it not a miracle that we live and love and laugh under this yoke of misinformed minds of other people. We can change the world by changing how we think about ourselves.

An excellent talk by Dr Tawede Grills, that I can easily relate to. Not because I've heard this topic discussed on BBC or Sky News or read it in the Guardian or Daily Telegraph, but because she is describing the life I live in the UK, as do my siblings, children, parents, cousins, aunties and uncles. This is life for all Africans within the diaspora and on the continent. It will be particularly difficult for Europeans to fully comprehend this. Of course in order to function within European societies some of us have sought to assimilate in order to try and live an ordinary life. This talk helps to remind them that, in spite of their strenuous efforts to be accepted as an equal, it is extremely unlikely we will be seen as equals until we enlighten the world about the BIG LIE constantly perpetuated about us as a people.

Thank you for this dynamic message! It is much needed, and immensely appreciated! I almost cried when you mentioned our sons, and the men especially, yet not exclusively in our lives remaining safe, because there is a constant state of uneasiness in them being in the world where they are simply judge by the color of their skin, and due to the prolonged conditioning of disparity there is a despondency that hovers over our neighborhoods, which can become a breeding ground for danger as well. No matter how well mannered or articulate they are they can still be potential prey. I love the thought of creating healing circles, to deal with the trauma from the time of our Great ensalved Ancestors, that is now transformed into new forms of oppression that we are dealing with in the present! Unfortunately, it is not a gift! Although the emancipation of the mind. as a movement will be! Not just for us, this will be beneficial for all of Humanity! Again many thanks for this powerful, short symposium! Peace and blessings on your Spiritual journey Doctor! PS. I am a little confused as to who the end quote derived from. Was it Marcus Garvey or Bob Marley? They were both phenomenal by the. way!

Im so happy I’ve stumbled across this video- i was discouraged from my studies of psychology not only because of how white washed it was, but because I became aware of this learned helpless within my community and even within myself. I dont know how to combat that, & how not to project my own uncertainties onto other people. Its just really great to see that theres a collective of people doing the work that needs to be done in the psychology field to understand the colonized mind set & heal it. I hope to step up to the plate one day.

Almost 300 years of slavery will change your DNA, put regular fish in dark water by 200 years the fish will adapt to its environment and born with additional/less or advance senses. Let's be gentle with each other as black people, assist this black psychology organization so that they may exceed their goal for 2020.

It's important to get the exact quote from Marcus Garvey "We are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery because whilst others might free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind. Mind is your only ruler, sovereign." The part about our mind being our only ruler; sovereign is possibly the least known part of the speech entitled"The Work That Has Been Done.." Sovereign comes to us from Latin through French. It refers to that which is above us. When mind is the only thing above us a massive shift in human awareness will take place. This will happen not because I said so, but because Garvey is a prophet who had such a clear vision just a small sample of it in the title of this video still connects with people over eighty years after he last closed his eyes.

They’re a multicultural democracy with complex challenges, the desire to get it right and keep all of their population safe. Racial micro-aggression starts in primary school, we need emancipation friendship circles in primary school. Early daily racial micro aggression is linked to diminished academic and mental health outcomes.

When you use confirmation basis to excuse all of your issues on one issue, it gives great clarity, but clarity on a road to nowhere. Fight poverty in the USA, fight to liberate your schools from lack of funding, fight to liberate the systemic poverty in the USA, and lastly, fight against this tribalism that this video drives and seek out clarity on who your true oppressor is, and what the true trauma is.
