Was just there last week. The guy with the jeep is still there and so is the choclate Moose. The pizza place didn't make it. The live music aint happening either. The IWC and the NABC are still alive and doing well and so in Dorothy's museum. Her root beer is at nearly every establishment too. I fucking hate covid. There seems to be a wave of folks trying to cater to the tourists and get their economy back up and running. See PotLuck for new and vintage cookware and coolers and thermoses. And also the International Headquarters of Crapola. Hope they become a staple.

How hot does it get at night In June ? The cabin we're staying in doesn't have any air conditioning.

I love Ely. My family has a cabin passed down from generations and our property is 50% donated by will from the president of the Soudan mines back in the glory days of mining the area. My great grandfather was clearly good friends with a very prosperous man. Now, as a quick cash grab, the locals want to sacrifice the area to poisonous mining that will steal land from it's owners, destroy wildlife and diminish the summer dollars that make the small town stable in the long run. Mining is important but so it's Ely's wildlife. It's understandable that the average resident in the north woods would vote for the promise of quick cash and the jobs. It's important that the tourists take a stand as well and say I love the wilderness and it's not worth destroying. The residents of Ely are lucky. They get a lifetime experience of what many of us work so hard to enjoy for a few weeks in the summer. Let's not let the greed in small population ruin it for the majority or the wildlife..
