I remember exactly where I was when I heard. I was 21, going to pick up my gf after she got out of school...I was a hot rodder, fast car, hot car, drove fast....I was one block from her house when the news came on the radio...I lifted, and coasted. To a stop. And sat a moment. To process. I drove the last block to her house slowly...It just couldn't be real. The world was not quite as good after that day.

@@lois6528 I like Tom.I saw him in concert.He was great, but I also saw Elvis twice in concert.There was nobody screaming at Tom but not only in both concerts for the entire duration were fans screaming but they all were standing in their chairs and jumping up and down..There is no comparison between the fans reactions.They really liked Tom but they worshipped Elvis.And as far as charisma, they both had it but Elvis had so much more.As for looks, Tom was downright homely with a squishy nose he had surgery on to cut down the honker he had before and his hair was frizzy and mousy.Plus he was very short.Elvis was breathtaking and tall.His body was a perfect male V shape..As for singing, I loved Tom but people passed out hearing Elvis.Tom was a little vulgar too with his pants being stuffed.Elvis was sexy to the extreme and did not have to stuff his pants to detract from any physical appeal that was lcking for Tom because Elvis was gorgeous.But if you prefer Tom, so be it.If you saw both in concert, you would discard Tom in a New York second.But I like Tom too.I believe Elvis liked Tom too.

I really wish we had film of these two singing together..... from the stories they often sang together, but never in public. I Adore BOTH of them, Elvis was my first love, but I've only just realised in recent years what a phenomenal talent Sir Tom really is..... It's no wonder he was one of the only entertainers Elvis loved to spend time with and truly respected as a singer and as a person. Such a generous soul and a truly great voice too.

yes.tom jones is a phenominol singer..his voice gives me the chilss but Elvis never really got the recognition of how incredibly talented he was vocally. i'm so blessed i got to see him in denver in 1970. RIP.. the King

It sounds like they slowed Tom down to match the tempo's of the 2 versions. It doesn't really sound like him - listen to him singing the same song on 'The Voice' at 80 yrs old - unbelievable!

I was 13 yrs old when Elvis died, I can still remember the exact spot where I was standing outside my school in Finland, when my friend came up to me and told me she had just heard on the radio that he had died...I was in total shock, I didn't even know Elvis COULD die, he was a person that was supposed to live forever♥️

I remember exactly where I was when I heard. I was 21, going to pick up my gf after she got out of school...I was a hot rodder, fast car, hot car, drove fast....I was one block from her house when the news came on the radio...I lifted, and coasted. To a stop. And sat a moment. To process. I drove the last block to her house slowly...It just couldn't be real. The world was not quite as good after that day.

I recall watching a TV interview with Tom Jones many years ago when he claimed that he “taught Elvis to sing”……WHAT RUBBISH, I was never a fan of TJ then and certainly not since!
So thankful to have lived to hear these two great voices! I love Sir Tom Jones ,but Elvis will forever be my King!!

How is Elvis operatic? Tom was the one who had operatic training, and it shows.

I’m sorry I’m to young to understand what the big deal with Elvis. I think he and his fans are racist. I have been told that he learned his moves from the blacks. No one liked those moves when the blacks did it but Elvis. So maybe not Elvis racist just his fans. Those that aren’t just think he is a pretty face. That’s why he was so popular. But what does anyone care what I think. I’m as dull and ugly as humans get. If it isn’t a song about goodbye I don’t want to hear it. @@Monalisa9603 then you will never understand it. I was 13 years old when I first was aware of listening to Elvis in a single 45 record, I had not even seen what he looked like and I got amazed. Today I'm 55 and still get amazed every time I hear to him. It's a kind of magic I can't explain.

@@lois6528 I like Tom.I saw him in concert.He was great, but I also saw Elvis twice in concert.There was nobody screaming at Tom but not only in both concerts for the entire duration were fans screaming but they all were standing in their chairs and jumping up and down..There is no comparison between the fans reactions.They really liked Tom but they worshipped Elvis.And as far as charisma, they both had it but Elvis had so much more.As for looks, Tom was downright homely with a squishy nose he had surgery on to cut down the honker he had before and his hair was frizzy and mousy.Plus he was very short.Elvis was breathtaking and tall.His body was a perfect male V shape..As for singing, I loved Tom but people passed out hearing Elvis.Tom was a little vulgar too with his pants being stuffed.Elvis was sexy to the extreme and did not have to stuff his pants to detract from any physical appeal that was lcking for Tom because Elvis was gorgeous.But if you prefer Tom, so be it.If you saw both in concert, you would discard Tom in a New York second.But I like Tom too.I believe Elvis liked Tom too.

I really wish we had film of these two singing together..... from the stories they often sang together, but never in public. I Adore BOTH of them, Elvis was my first love, but I've only just realised in recent years what a phenomenal talent Sir Tom really is..... It's no wonder he was one of the only entertainers Elvis loved to spend time with and truly respected as a singer and as a person. Such a generous soul and a truly great voice too.

yes.tom jones is a phenominol singer..his voice gives me the chilss but Elvis never really got the recognition of how incredibly talented he was vocally. i'm so blessed i got to see him in denver in 1970. RIP.. the King

Written by Lonnie, who recorded it first, but was very pleased to let Tom sing it.
Tom sings first then Elvis does the second verse. Then both sing together the hook, Fall in Love. Great performance by both legends.

It sounds like they slowed Tom down to match the tempo's of the 2 versions. It doesn't really sound like him - listen to him singing the same song on 'The Voice' at 80 yrs old - unbelievable!
What an incredible duo .... I was blessed to grow up when music was really about stories of love and life

Possibly the best two voices ever heard in the business.....
Never saw the King, but saw Tom Jones a few years ago now he truly could sing. Tom Jones was the only entertainer I knew to have had his voice insured.
I saw Tom live recently. He was brilliant, but most of all, i couldn't believe i was close to someone who actually knew Elvis . WOW 💋💘
