I´m so happy as I managed to get a copy of that box (including that piece of clothing) just a couple of years ago for a decent price.

Hello Ed another good review, On the topic of bonus features, The Secretary Becky Yancey who worked in the office at Graceland in her book said they had to cut up Elvis clothing for the box set . Stay safe Sean

Ed - I bought a copy of this box set back in the late 1970s. My copy, however, is a re-issue edition so it doesn't have the poster and piece of clothing. As I remember, the versions of "Lover Doll" and "Dixieland Rock" are different from the versions on the _King Creole_ soundtrack LP. The CD issue of _The Other Sides_ apparently does have stereo mixes. An amusing sidenote: In their book _Elvis: The Illustrated Record_ authors Roy Carr and Mick Farren state that the piece of cloth was "reverently packaged á la Turin Shroud".

I had that set but it didn't have the thing I wanted which was the patch of Elvis clothing. The historic clothes were saved from the guilotine so it's unlikely we could identify the swatches. Even so cool to own those! It was a good set in it's day.

Originally, the booklet with the blue cover was an item from Sahara, Tahoe 1972. Apparently, they reproduced for the second pressing of the vinyl.

personally I actually like this box set better than volume 1; it has a much more eclectic selection of songs and they are all sequenced in a random playing order, which gives this set an extremely positive listening experience overall. highly enjoyable

Glad you showed this. I now realise that clothing swatches were different, i.e. from different suits. Stupidily, thought they cut up one suit. Didn't they cut up white suit worn in Clambake, for some release? So, swatch you have didn't come with box set? I read, that 15,000 were shipped from US to UK in '71 also with swatches. Why is Wonder of You favourite song? I don't have a favourite. Had a friend, Elvis collector, collected foreign 45s, said favourite was Treat me Nice.

I don’t know if they used or cut up the Clambake suit for this promo. The red one came with the boxset I showed, and the plaid one was a gift. Why is your favorite song your favorite song? Difficult question to answer. All I can say is, it just is. Thanks and stay safe.

@@TheKingsCourt1972 The Elvis records I listened to the most, when started to buy records were soundtracks, then songs from 69 to 71. Then 72 to 77. Then all 60s, early and late. Then 50s and all Sun. I play guitar, so love Scotty Moore, Burton, Hank Garland, Glen Campbell, Reggie Young etc. and musicians Elvis had. Great full sound at Sun. Many many favourite songs. I've done versions of every 50s recording, My Happiness to '63. Easy to play Stay Away Joe soundtrack. Much to say. Thanks Ed.

Ed - I think in early 70’s Elvis and/or the Colonel sold his back catalog to RCA - so no more royalties on all recordings up to 70’, Then RCA releases these boxes hmm. Nice set TCB Ed 💥

I only have cd 2 of the double cd version and after having the second cd boxset of the legend lives on reader's digest for years, I recently picked up the first cd in a goodwill shop early this year😎

It was released on CD. I think maybe in the late 1990s. I think it was a double CD boxed set.

Love and own this set as well. Unfortunately missing the bonus stuff, I have no idea where those items went, but everything else is intact. And honestly, if I wanted to replace them I doubt it would be very difficult. Not really high on my list of priorities though. But yeah, Dynaflex discs. I can't say I've ever had an issue with Dynaflex. They're thin for sure, but they sound fine to my ears. Great set, love the mono mixes for this old stuff. Songs like "Any Day Now" (my favorite Elvis song) has never sounded quite right to me in stereo. In mono you can hear all of the horns but they're kind of buried in the stereo mix. At any rate, its a fantastic set. Love it.

Thanks for sharing the volume 2. This is a nice box set that complimented the first box set. This is one of RCA's rather successful projects because they made the second box set actually better than the first box set. As good as the first box set is, the second box set containing the EP's on an actual album together with rare "b sides" makes this issue more interesting than the first album. The first box set is somewhat murky with gold discs around the world not included except for Wooden Heart and the wrong date appears 1964 ? Maybe that is when it became Gold, I don't know, but placing "Where Do you Come From" on the first set, really belongs on this second box set. I am sure "That's All Right" or "Mystery Train" were Gold singles by then and could have been placed on the first box set. There are discrepancies. But all in all, the second box set is definitely the best box set put together for gems !!! Well done Ed.

Yes, there are at least 5 singles that should have featured on the first box reversed with the second, but my biggest gripe with the '71 box is the inclusion of "The Wonder of You" and "I've Lost You", 2 songs that charted as A- sides and so recently as Hits would have brought it up to date. There Mono versions are, in most cases, superior.

@Paul Gwyn I get that, but what I meant was, say for instance, "One Night"was the bigger HIT, but instead they issued the B-side , "I Got Stung" instead.
