Elvis recorded approximately 700 songs. He sold about 1 Billion records. He can sing everything. Gospel was his personal favorite to sing.He could rock the planet with rock and roll or bring tears to your eyes and goosebumps with his ballads. He also sang country .He had a 3 octave range and had no formal singing training. He taught himself to play the guitar and piano. He could not read music..he played by ear only.

I had the privilege to see Elvis in concert 1976. I was only 7 years old. I remember everything. It was like seeing God walk on stage for a little lad like me. He was larger than life in person. I never heard so many women scream and cry. So many flash bulbs going off looked like a strobe light in the Coliseum. I've never witnessed anything like it since. It was beyond magical. I witnessed greatness from the most generous person. He gave himself to everyone. All he wanted was to be loved and wanted. I feel he got that in many ways. A precious gift from above. He changed everything.

Saw him live in Phoenix, AZ in April 1973. It was like a shot of adrenaline to the heart when he hit the stage. A presence you could feel in your very being. Blinding flash bulbs, deafening screams. It was an overwhelming experience for this 10 year old boy. It was only a couple of weeks after this Aloha From Hawaii concert aired on American TV. (The concert aired live in most of the world on January 14, 1973 but wasn't broadcast in the US until April 4, 1973.)

@@lorettapierce8430 The Grammy was first invented in 1958 and some of Elvis' most inventive years were 54 - 57. They also gave him a lifetime Grammy when he was only 36 years old ! Problably because they felt he had been unfairly overlooked. Elvis have had 18 number one hits in America and is also the singer with most number one hits in the U.K. even though he never toured outside U.S.A. (except for one 3 day tour in Canada! )

Hey all you “singer/performers” that when on stage performing live you are all wired with your fancy molded ear monitors to keep on task and tune. Do you see these aids in Elvis’ ears? He is out there with a mic and his God given gift to OUR EARS AND EYES!!!

It is important to remember that this concert was a very big deal at the time it was broadcast in 1973. It's the very first concert by ANYONE, LIVE via satellite from Hawaii. Live concerts via satellite had never been done before so we were all really impressed. I remember watching it, and he did an amazing job, as expected. Powerful songs, powerful performance. It is suitable for Elvis to have the distinction of being the first person who was able to do this. Now it's ordinary, not particularly special, to see live concerts in real time, but not then. I'm so happy to see your reactions to Elvis. There is so much music from before you were born that is now classic, like Elvis' songs.

Good to see a reaction from your generation to Elvis. His music is unique and timeless. Some of his best work, unfortunately, was never filmed. His recording at Sun 54-55 and later in 69 at American Sound are breathtaking and still fresh. I'm sure you could find some video edits for the audience to watch, it's worth it trust me. I'm just down the road from you guys in Redditch. Keep up the good work.

This is one of my favorite songs of his. I am so glad that we have these recordings of Elvis and he keeps being re-discovered by new generations--he was so special, it is only fitting that he should live on forever in memories. I loved your reactions when he hit those high notes...that's how I feel. I am 73 and I fell in love with him when I was eleven. As many times as I have heard his songs, I still get goose bumps.
