I'm 61. Lifelong fan. The only thing that went down at the end was he would ramble on and mumble these weird rants and his mental train jumped off the tracks. He wasn't a hick like some people assumed. He was a tremendous reader. He would buy dozens and dozens of books at a time on every subject imaginable. (I saw copies of reciepts) He also wanted to know what made people tick and talked to people in all walks of life. (You know who did the same? Muhammed Ali, I met him as a teenager. I was bussing dishes at a restaurant outside Philadelphia ) He was down to earth, polite, funny, a good listener and quite a philosopher. If I could have dinner with anyone it would be Elvis because he was smart, shrewd, compassionate and had a great sense of humor. I also have a black belt in Kenpo Karate. Its a lifestyle so I can see why it influenced his performances. Its a discipline.

Many people believe that this was Elvis' last concert but it was not -- it was the last FILMED concert on June 21st. He went on to do one more on June 26th in Indianapolis which was the last. The last note that ended this song was done by tenor Sherrill (Shaun) Nielsen who sang the high falsetto ending -- as good as Elvis was, he was so ill that he was just not able to reach that closing note. Nielsen performed with Elvis as a member of the Imperials gospel group on Elvis' 1966 album "How Great Thou Art." He also provided backup singing in the studio & in concert and included work on Elvis' 1975 album "Elvis Today." (1) from his '68 special "Jailhouse Rock" kzread.info/dash/bejne/amuCmLOaYKede7w.html & "Blue Suede Shoes" (from sitting to center stage w-a cute finish w-Elvis in all his gorgeousness). You could do one then follow it w-the other because together they total only 4 min. This is Elvis unleashed, doing what he did best w-all the power & emotion. (2) the water throwing incident from 1972 Hampton Roads, Virginia when at the very, very start of the video Elvis called out “Please Release Me” but the band began playing “I Can’t Stop Loving You” - he didn’t stop them, he went right into the song, he then walked over to his glass of water, picked it up & playfully threw it at Glen @ piano -- a fun, energetic, powerhouse kzread.info/dash/bejne/foKospeAlJu3d6g.html -- just make sure you hear him say Please Release Me @ very start of the video, then the water incident will make sense. Also note his little irritated expression in the beginning. But it would be best to let this performance run straight through & not stop AND NOT talk over him -- it really needs the full flow of watching him, also the little thing he did @ end.

It's the last filmed show, he died 8 weeks later, this was from june 21, he died in august 16... Elvis was so sick here, he had already had 3 heart attacks at this stage of his life, before he sits down you can hear that he can hardly breath and he stutters, but then he sits down and sings like this...

He was on prescription drugs for an inherited disorder, they were not regulated back then like now, I just like to make sure people do not get the impression that he choose that as a self indulgent lifestyle, because he was quite conservative in his beliefs and political orientation.

They forced him in contracts to perform. He wanted to stop. _____Elvis Presley performed 1,684 concerts. 10 years!!;! Short span of time!!!plus las vegas. two shows a night, seven days a week - that led to 636 sold-out shows Elvis was a hard working man. to disciplined. To much work. Rolling stones made 2000 concerts In 60 years!!!!!! He was a innovative ,creative music entrepreneur. He contracted and trained a company of musicians. Elvis arranged and conducted a great team of musicians

Your right he should have walked away, he's life was screwed up only time he had any fun was on the stage he's private life he couldn't do anything without women trying to rip he's clothes off, he chose to play music but the people put him in his grave, I was lucky enough to see him in 72 or 73 in Houston Astro Dome didn't like him but after the concert I was glad I went, women were falling out left an right I was a kid damest thing I ever seen
