I’m always talking about gospel being Elvis’s best genre. His voice had too much sincerity and sensitivity for just rock and roll. I agree with you. Nobody sang gospel quite like Elvis. He felt it more than anyone else, I believe.

I heard this song for the first time in 2021. My daughter got me a five pack of Elvis CD’s in Graceland. Many songs I did not hear before. In the 70’s I was busy raising my children and they consumed my every moment. IAt 81 yrs. I find great joy and happiness listening to Elvis’s soothing❤ voice.

I have never heard this selection. Its a beautiful love song. Elvis uses his vocal range well.

He had the type of voice where, if he'd been born 100 years earlier and in Europe, he would've been an opera singer. I can't believe how long it took me to realize that. Elvis is actually a good example of what it sounds like when an opera type singer chooses not to do opera and does popular music instead. Of course the same could be said for Meatloaf, but he actually did start out in the beginning as an opera singer.

I don't know if you know this but he LOVED OPERA! Mario Lanza was his absolute favorite singer. Roy Hamilton & Roy Orbison were two of others you hear him talk about in unlimited interviews. June Juanico who dated him as a teen said he could project a HUGE VOICE even in 1955 & 56 but he told her he couldn't sing like that in Rock & ROLL. When he came back from the Army he sang what HE wanted to, big bands, jazz, blues. He could sing anything.

He was very ill, his body broken, but at that show his rendition of My Way & I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen, with him playing piano, proove he had the greatest voice ever. A true master of his craft. R.I.P E. wish id have had the chance to see you live. But thanks for your catalogue of an eclectic range of styles, all of which you truely mastered.

Elvis Presley was the most talented and generous person I have the privilege to listen to. He wasn't allowed to be able to carry on through illness but he worked right to the end of his life. He said he had too many people who relied on him. Hope you are singing in Heaven Elvis. There will never be another as great as you were. God Bless you.

He sang and made it seem so effortlessly on his part! In my heart nobody will ever match or surpass his sound!😊 Nobody can compete with the whole package known as Elvis. His unique name suited him to a tee. I heard him joke about his name, but I think any other name just wouldn't do.

@@BuzzingRocks ... the data of every recording session (with date, personnel, songs, takes). I could not find this footage from 1969 anymore. As far as I know Ronnie was the drummer (and so the other members of the band all together) for the first time in the studio in 1972 when they recorded Burning Love and other songs. You can see this in the On Tour footage. The drummer was probably Jerry Carrigan when the song The Sound of Your Cry was recorded in Nashville. There are books with all recording sessions in detail but I don't have any. So I could not tell if Ronnie was really there but I don't think so. By the way: only James Burton and John Wilkinson played in every concert from 1969-1977. The other musicians were sometimes replaced by others. Ronnie was not the drummer (for example) in the last two concerts in 1977 when Elvis performed live for the last time. Jerry Scheff left in 1973 after the Aloha and returned only in 1975.

I can hear pain in his voice. So soulful and sad, but still beautiful.

Think the OP poster means the "Greatest voice in the world" and I oc agree on that. There have been many fantastic voices throughout music the history, but never one that was quite as faceted as Elvis voice! Even great contemporary vocalists as Sinatra or Mercury couldn't really match him. The difference lay in Elvis ability to be the pure outflow of the music emotion! The very brute force of the musical emotion! While the other great vocalists of our era made fantastic interpretations and performances, that we will still to this day enjoy, Elvis like none other left marks in our souls in his interpretations. When Elvis did his own material or did his own interpretations of other artists songs, they where mostly taken to a whole new level. What I want to say with this is that the title "best singer ever" is certainly something subjective. But to me, in the meaning that no one moves me in his best moments like that truckdriver from Memphis, that is all that matters.

How I Love to hear him sing…all genres of music. And the way he could make me feel! When I was dating (a Long time ago, back in the ‘70s), the guys never wanted to listen to him, they called it sissy music, I personally think they were jealous, but if they had known what the sound of him singing made me feel, I think would have gotten a tape instead of listening to the radio or the groups they liked…and I might have gotten into big trouble! lol. I just wish he could have lived longer - happily and in good health. I don’t think he would have liked not being able to do all the things he liked to do. God Bless you Elvis, you made the world a much better place while you were here and your music keeps you alive for your devoted fans. R.I.P.
