Imagine the chaos, that would have been, if they freakin' out in that small place...And the people were grown up enough, because they wanted to enjoy Elvis and didn't want to got Elvis in trouble. They respect each other. It's not like in the fifties where the teenagers were totally freaking out, because Elvis was something totally different and new. Later on tour or in Las Vegas fans freakin' out, but not as much as in the 50's.

Watching Elvis' performance here, it is hard to believe how nervous he was before he walked out on to that little stage, in the midst of his first live audience since 1961. It took a lot of effort on Steve Binder's part to get Elvis to go out, and you can see at the very beginning how nervous he was - notice his hand shaking when he reaches for the microphone. That applause he heard was all it took to reassure him that he still had "it," and there was still an appetite for it.

One thing in this video that stands out to me is how he does not think it below himself to help out the roadie as he handed the guitar to him. Most “superstars“ would think that is below them to do that. Elvis gets a big thumbs up in my book.

Shy boy from Tennessee? You people are insane. Elvis used to go to every floor of the International, after his concerts, and make out with women. What I like the best was he always had this hint of a smile in his eyes that showed his humility and that he never took himself too seriously even while surrounded by a bunch of screaming adoring fans. I've known the name Elvis Presley my whole life yet his music never appealed to me because i was hyperfocussed on my own musical heroes. But recently a friend of mine put on this live video of EP, and ever since that moment an obsession has been growing inside of me. This man must be the greatest entertainer that ever lived. His voice combined with his attitude and body language is just so overwhelming to me that i'm crying like a 5 year old. I've never felt so amazed watching a singer. My god, attending one of his live shows must have been life altering. I feel extremely humbled watching him. I'm beyond words. And this is coming from somebody who's been playing music for 20 years on both guitar and piano.

I have to say if I'd had tickets for this performance or The Beatles the same night, same town, it would have been a no-brainer. The Beatles couldn't match this for a show. Even the instrumental orchestral links between songs are dynamic....everything is just so full on. Superb.

It's hard to believe how Elvis had gone from being the coolest guy on the planet to being totally out of date but, by the end of the 60s that's where he was due to bad management, movies & bad soundtracks. I can only imagine what people were expecting when the Elvis Christmas special was announced but, when they did tune in their minds must have been blown. Little did they know they were not only watching Elvis reclaim his throne but also they were watching musical history. Long live the King.
