I work with an ex state trooper who was at an Elvis concert as security, he wasn't a fan of Elvis, but didn't dislike him either....He was guarding where Elvis would come out to the back stage area....He said you could feel Elvis coming before you saw or heard him, he said there was this enormous presence that couldn't be denied, he said he never experienced that with anyone else...Royalty....that IS Elvis.

It's amazing at the number of people that have met or been around Elvis that said that exact same thing. They described it as almost like a static electricity or tingling they could feel as he got close and they would know to look that direction and then he'd walk in seconds later.

Agree. Elvis was great at everything except songwriting, which was not natural to him like it was to Dylan, Robbins, Haggard, Simon, etc

No he is not. Marty Robbins was way better than Elvis. Marty could sing great and wrote over 200 great songs. Elvis on co-wrote 2 lousy songs. Just listen to "The Chair" and "Feleena" and you know how great Marty was.

Marty Robbins was better than Elvis. Just as good a singer as Elvis. And he wrote over 200 songs all by himself except 3 co-writes. Elvis only co-wrote 2 songs and Red West did almost all of the work on those songs. Again Marty trumps Elvis.
Not only was Elvis an exceptional singer and entertainer, but his band was always top notch and tight as hell.

I truly feel sad for folks that grew up without Elvis in the popular culture, that is, alive...There will NEVER be another one like him... One of the saddest days of my life when he passed...It just seemed like everything stopped, but of course it didn't...Like losing family...

There will never be another Marty Robbins. Just as good a singer as Elvis, and the writer of over 200 great songs, of which all but 3 were written by himself. Just listen to "El Paso", "Feleena" and "El Paso City" and you have to admit Marty was a genius. Elvis only co-wrote 2 song in which Red West did all the work,
@edwilliams127

@@walliegirl2 I would never slag Marty Robbins at all but Elvis' genius was in his voice and onstage charisma. Songwriting is very important but if the performer doesn't get it over with audiences it doesn't much matter. Elvis has been dead for 47 years, still draws money, and his house is the second most visited residence in America (White House is first) and is on the National Historic Registry. He is the best entertainer of all-time. And no one has to insert Elvis into a conversation, he is the conversation.
He just could take a simple song and make it great! Incredible

I love those looks of band members which just screams "oh my he is so cool!" :D Just look at Ed Enoch at 0:37 - 0:46, he looks like happiest man on Earth as he shares stage with EP! :) There are little cool moments in EOT which I love.... for example See See Rider filmed at the same show. When he entered the stage, you can see Kathy speaking to Myrna, immediately telling her "blue one!" - regarding a jumpsuit EP uses that particular show. :)
