Elvis's roots come from gospel and blues! What music the King played

Elvis’ mother was a believer & she made sure Elvis got a strong foundation in the Lord when he was a child, & he carried that with him for the rest of his life, & he would sing Gospel & Hymns in his secular concerts, thus tilling the soil for someone to sow the seed in thousands of people. He was just 22 when his beloved mother passed at the age of 46. Elvis passed at the age of 42. Neither of them were perfect, but we are all flawed. Thankfully, God can still call us to work for Him, as flawed as we might be.

Elvis did a Benefit concert to raise funds for Hungary when that Russian invasion took place, & he asked people to send donations in right then, because his concert was still a month away, but the people of Hungary needed food & other necessities of life right now. Elvis was a humanitarian as well as a man with a strong faith. He put his faith into action, as we all should be doing if we are believers.

Thanks again for sharing. If anyone in the modern world wants to know if God and Jesus are real, all you have to do is watch Elvis. They must be! How else could one mortal person have all that? Great looking, incredible voice, modest, generous, actor, dancer and humanitarian. And remember, he never had a single singing lesson. None of that happened by accident. Only God could grant so much entertainment qualities to one person. Here’s the thing boys and girls, God has blessed you just as much just in different ways and areas of life. Elvis knew what he had came from God. That’s why he was so happy to praise and worship God by giving it back. Recognize and accept your blessings today and give them back to God with a grateful heart.

I know this song through my grandmother, who sang it around her house enough that I learned the words. What a gift she gave her grandchildren. Elvis' voice sounds so beautiful on this song.

I am from Hungary, my great grandma took part in the 1956 revolution, this performance really warms my heart.

As time goes by we sometimes forget what a great singer Elvis was. This is just classic and the beginning of his awesome career ❤❤

Beautiful! The studio version is much longer. Im sure you'll want to give it a listen. Fun fact: Hungary took on an unsuccessful effort of trying to overthrow their Soviet government at the time. First of all, what other international superstar with a nonstop work schedule would even pay any attention to what was going on outside of his own little world of newly acquired fame and fortune? Elvis was special! Anyway, millions of dollars poured in, and it was years later that the Hungarians discovered that a good portion of it came from Elvis fans. In 2011 they commemorated him with an honorary citizenship in Budapest and a landmark.

I know you like gospel music- there is a bluegrass/gospel group you really should check out called Dailey & Vincent. It’s really a duo- Jamie Dailey & Darrin Vincent, but they have other members that sing & play with them off & on. They do a lot of gospel & some other music too, but their vocals will blow your mind. “By the mark” is excellent, “when the roll is called up yonder” and they do a song with Jimmy Fortune (from the Statler Brothers) called “I Believe” that will leave you speechless. Check them out, you won’t be disappointed.

I have a cd ultimate Gospel Elvis, 25 greatest Gospel songs that he had recorded. I listen to it a lot and it never gets old. My favorite song he sings is "Joshua fit the battle of Jericho".
