Today I bring you the making of a knife in 52100 steel with a Gabon ebony handle.
For those who don't yet know my work, the definition of "ethical" I give to some curves inspired by a model I designed years ago inspired by the Art Nouveau style, which was the basis for the design of the elves in the Lord of the Rings films.
The piece in question has lines on the sides of the bolster, which move towards the wood of the handle, creating the feeling of continuity. They are a detail that adds a lot to the aesthetics and also helps to give a firmer grip.
The piece is 6mm thick, 9 inches long and weighs approximately 330 grams, with the center of mass precisely at the beginning of the bolster, making it very balanced.

Hoje trago a confecção de umma faca em aço 52100 com empunhadura em ébano do Gabão.
Para quem ainda não conhece meu trabalho, a definição de "éfica" dou a algumas recurvas inspiradas em um modelo que desenhei anos atrás inspirado pelo estilo Art Nouveau, que foi a base para o design dos eelfos nos filmes de O Senhor dos Anéis.
A peça em questão conta com linhas nas laterais do bolster, que avançam para a madeira da empunhadura criando a sensação de continuidade. São um detalhe que agrega muito à estética e também ajuda a dar mais firmeza na pegada.
A peça tem 6mm de espessura, 9 polegadas de comprimento e 330 gramas de peso aproximado, tendo o centro de massa precisamente no início do bolster, tornando-a muito equilibrada.

You play the press like it was a violin, and finish as always down to the very last detail. The integral bolster is so nice as it flows into the ebony. I absolutely love watching you work. You're a master at your craft.
