Harpia Knife Making - Tactical Knife With Kimono Micarta

In today's video I bring this machete inspired by kukri and tracker, personalized with Japanese motifs.
The blade was hand forged from a leaf spring, and I made the micarta for the grip myself using epoxy resin and braided kimono cotton. It was another idea that I had been wanting to execute and it fit well into a commissioned project.
The kabuto on the left side was requested by the client, and when I realized that his surname was Japanese I suggested we also use his family symbol, which I made on the other side of the piece.
The hem was lined with the same kimono fabric I made the micarta with, so they matched. I think this material is fantastic, because besides being simple, it is very durable and resistant. The Kimono in the background of the photo, for example, I've had for exactly 20 years and still use it.
I've been training in martial arts since I was a child, and among my favorites are the Japanese ones (my mother says since I was little that she's sure I was Japanese in my past life... :D), so I don't need to say how much I enjoyed working on this project .

A lâmina foi forjada manualmente a partir de uma mola folha, e eu mesmo fiz a micarta para a empunhadura usando resina epóxi e algodão trançado de kimono. Foi mais uma ideia que já vinha querendo executar e coube bem em um projeto encomendado.
O kabuto na lateral esquerda foi pedido do cliente, e quando percebi que o sobrenome dele era japonês sugeri usarmos também o símbolo da família dele, que fiz na outra face da peça.
A bainha foi forrada com o mesmo tecido de kimono com o qual fiz a micarta, para que combinassem. Acho esse material fantástico, porque além de simples ele é muito durável e resitente. O Kimono no fundo da foto por exemplo, tenho há exatos 20 anos e ainda uso.
Treino artes marciais desde criança, e entre as minhas favoritas estão as japonesas (minha mãe diz desde quando eu era pequeno que tem certeza que fui japonês na vida passada... :D), então nem preciso dizer o quanto gostei de trabalhar nesse projeto.

This micarta on the handle was made with braided cotton, used to make Judo and Jiu-jitsu kimonos.
What type of paper did you use to transfer your drawing onto the knife. Very nice work
