@@TheDretch it has no black Elements at all. The vocals are melodeathy, the Guitars are Metalcorey/melodeathy (kinda like Heaven Shall burn) and everything else is just very Folky and awesome...so no it's not blackened...not as I hear it

However if you compare a melodeath band like Dark Tranquility and Wolfheart there is a clear distinction, yet both are considered "melodeath. Or a band like God Dethroned (blackened death metal) vs Death (death metal) there is a clear distinction. For some "blackened" simply means a dark edge to the music. Anywhoooooo carry on! \m/

@@314159BC It's about an old-celtic legend. Look up The Slumber. It has an explanation at its end

So here's my take on this. The beginning of the video has quotes from The Book of Revelations/Apocalypse of the Apostle John/Yohanen Shilah, who had been granted sights of the end of the world. Many people correlate the events that were predicted to be that of a "new world government" with a big-brother's watching mentality (the beast that convinces people to worship it, ect). The lyrics mention "give thanks to your golden calf", which is in reference to the Exodus story. The Israelites, who just escaped Egypt, began to worship a false god, which was a cow they made from their gold jewelry while Moses was in the mountains speaking to Yaweh. The footage, if I'm not mistaken is from recent anti-government protests in France. This within itself is interesting because the lyrics also mention Ogmios, who was a god of deceit and persuasion who the Gaul's believed in in France in pre-Roman times. You could compare the beast from Revelations, the Calf, and Ogmios as all being deceitful entities, such as an overbearing and oppressive government. Glanzman is making a political statement.

Thank you for sharing! I was hoping to find an intellectual comment that addressed the lyrical content. If Eluveitie addresses the Deceiver, do they address the Savior in their new album? If you point out the deceit, then there must be truth. If there's a problem, there must be a solution. If there's sin, there must be atonement. Right?

Great interpretation. Also wanted to add to this as i've seen people ask "Rīgē Sesroneū" = "Praise to the king Sesroneos" giving your analysis more credibility. As Sesroneos was a giant who conquered "the people of the west", i.e. the Celts. As Europeans and Americans "people of the west" king Sesroneos can be interpreted as our governments.

Could you point me in the direction of Ogmios being a god of deceit? Of the sources I have found he is a god of persuasion, but haven't found anything that specifically implies deceit. I can see where the two would go hand in hand though.

This is what I wanted from Eluvitie!! Ahhhh not the soft songs they recently put out. This is epic AF.

Just when I kinda re-discovered them, they release ... this. Best timing ever.

This track and the slumber are so badass. Like the entire album, but those two are my favorites. Long time Eluveitie fan, this evolution is awesome.

This is awesome! I've liked Eluveitie already on their elder albums, but the new one tops everything... I love that black metal touch combined with their usual folk metal style, great song and video too!

@@aerdraiochta yeah but it's a "acoustic" album it's supposed to be that way haha and i agree and in the song "ategnatos" in some points have a mashup of instruments that you can't understand wtf are you hearing (is a case that in previous albums don't happen at all) but i thinks is like an "evolution" from them...

Best song from the new 'Veitie. You have been my favorite band since 08. I love this band. I miss Ivo, Anna, and Merlin, but very strong band still. Amazing in Denver in October. Keep going this way.

Another feather added to the crown. The song feels like arising and leaving the semblance of something that is yet to come.

Nope... Leur premier album était géniaux et là c'est devenu un groupe commerciale qui veut plaire à tout le monde. Et ces chanteuses incessantes qui n'ont rien à faire dans le groupe. Non clairement non ce n'est pas le meilleure groupe Suisse il y en a plein d'autre méconnu qui ont su gardé leur vraie nature. Le metal n'est pas un style de musique qui est fait pour plaire à tout le monde et le groupe l'a oublié.

Sesronei or Seseroneos/Sesronios is the name of a Legendary person mentioned in the story about the foundation of Lugdunum. According to this story Seseroneos would overthrown the kings forcing them to settle a new order. ( Book of Clitophon of Rhodes, foundation of cities XIII ) The question is...Is this and monotheistic religions the new order or not? Did Sesroneos presents the old tradition of the old gods and the truth? Or maybe he want to create a new order too base on darkness? Who is the evil at the end? Those or him? We never know.

Mehmet Kutay Öntaş eluveities lead singer Chrigel dose just as good of vocals as Randy, I've been right next to Chrigel at a show and I can vouch for his vocals, those deep growls and screams you hear in this song are not just Randy but also Chrigel. He's a really bad ass vocalist, especially live
