    Chrigel (the growling man) starts this band as his solo project. He was recording all instruments on his own, but when people want him to play live, he have to find some musicians... So, this is how it started ;) More songs by ELUVEITIE with less growl: Ambiramus Epona Lvgvs The Slumber (some growls) older songs with previous lineup (Anna Murpy...) Call of the Mountains A Rose For Epona Alesia (some growls) Omnos (Fear - old poem) Some songs are sung in Gaulish - language of Asterix and Obelix ;) Also, Anna Murpy with others, who left Eluveitie, now formed band Cellar Darling... And if you are curious, the instrument with handle|crank is Hurdy-Gurdy en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurdy-gurdy. It is something like "mechanical violin". If you are interested, try find Patty Gurdy on youtube ;) kzread.info/dron/SEOK9G-A2oCyZwdGesCpIg.html

    Elveitie are an INCREDIBLE band!! Many of their songs, esp. from earlier albums, are sung in Gaulish whch is a extinct celtic language that predates LATIN! They learned as much of it as there is to know and use it in their music! I have learned more about my celtic ancestry and culture from this band then I ever did in school. Explore them. Extremely talented artists!

    The original female singer was Anna Murphy who also played the Hurdy Gurdy. When she left, they brought in two to replace her: the female vocal/harpist, and the Hurdy Gurdy player. It's a common mistake, but people watch their videos and say "Oh look, flutes"! Those are actually Irish Tin Whistles.

    There is a difference between flutes and whistles? My language doesn't differentiate them at all.

  • @snakewhisperer1

    @snakewhisperer1

    4 жыл бұрын

    In terms of musical instruments, yes. In the broad definition of "whistles", I suppose a flute could be considered a whistle as a whistle could be many things: train whistle, boat whistle, etc. But in musical instrument terms, air is blown across the mouth piece and keys are used to "stop" the holes to produce the different notes on a flute. On an Irish Tin Whistle, air is blown directly into the mouthpiece and fingers "stop" the holes. They are two different animals.

    !FINALLY! LOL. I am one of the few who have been asking for this band for a long time. I am glad you guys liked them. DO MORE :) . The female singer is actually the second female singer for the band... both are excellent. Yes Kel, the second "flute" in the was a steel whistle. I just submitted Eluvietie's Call of the Mountains via your website, so a little taste of the bands diversity.

    They have gone thru many amazing musicians over the years, but always seem to find more! This band is the real deal. I've seen them live and the mix between the electric and trad instruments is amazing! They even do full acoustic albums. Crigle always screams but there is such an amazing range in their music. All their music deals with the Celts. The rage comes from the strife of the Celts with their Roman oppressors.

In order not to prefer any of the four official languages (Swiss German / French / Italian & *Romansh), the country code of Switzerland is therefore CH ☺️ Loved your reaction! FINALLY! I like to think of these guys as a kick ass Celtic trad band that just does death metal :). Instrumentally, those "flutes" are actually the low whistle and the tin whistle in the Celtic trad world, also played by a certain Englishman in a well known Finnish band lol. From this album, there are a couple of songs that don't have much/any growling. Check out Ambiramus & Breathe, for example. They also have 2 acoustic albums that are awesome as well, with a lot less growling.

    I'm with Kel on the whole scream/growl device. Very few instances or bands do it artfully enough to make it worthwhile - Jinjer, Amaranthe, and Epica occasionally do something interesting with it, and Nightwish uses it tastefully, unobtrusively, and to good effect, but I'm giving up on the rest of it. I don't dismiss it lightly, but I've tried to find something pleasurable about it and it's just not there for me. I don't need anyone to provide more angst in my life, I'm looking for more joy. Understand what you are saying about the death metal parts, I only recently started to like thegenre and then mostly when it's melodic death metal. Well put explaining your point. They don't do death metal all the times, many of the earlier songs are more traditional folk metal. If you want less (or no) growl you can go for Call of the mountain and if you want songs in gaulish go for epona or celtos.

    I love Celtic folk and I like good metal. This just didn't do anything for me. Try some Elizabethan folk like Pentangle. Beautiful stuff

    The old Eluveitie, with Anna Murphy is the best. After that there is not much to say, the songs before 2016 are the best, it was the best time of the band, the current Eluveitie is just a shadow and "band diva" than it was with Anna, Ivo and Merlin.
