After receiving the vocal nodule diagnosis following his disastrous show in Philadelphia on 9/8/1986--Elton managed to turn in a successful, if not vocally hesitant at times, opening night of his four-night stand at Madison Square Garden.
It is theorized Elton must've been given steroid treatment to help him get thru the remainder of the tour, and the quick recovery of his voice and consistency of almost all of the run at Madison Square Garden certainly give some credence to this theory.
Although he showed some hesitant to go all out on opening night, on this second night he seemed to have shaken off his fears of his voice retaliating against him and throws caution to the wind, doing any and all high notes and hard bits that he was still doing by this point. He turns in one of the best and most consistent shows of the entire tour on this second night and its a great and high energy show for sure. Enjoy!
