He has the good intentions of the best of humanity and potentially innocent children, he has fun with the things he creates, but at the same time he takes the most responsibility and reasonable steps to keep all of humanity alive. And it is not something he considers work, it's something he personally wants. He considers humanity his team. And he would never blame anyone for not doing their part. He just looks around: oh, well nobody is doing this, but it is vital for my team to survive and for the future prosperity, so I will do it. He is my, and everyone's hero, even if we don't know it yet.

In a sense you're spot-on. Elon Musk lives in a not-yet realized future. So he's showing us our options and giving us the tools to a better future. Literally living in a better possible future is as close to "time traveler" as physics is going to allow. What he does is mainly what differentiates him from the rest of the herd. this is only for spaceX because he expected the company to fail and there isnt really an obvious plan to have going in to creating the first private space company. For tesla on the other hand, he has always had a plan. He calls it the master plan. The gate on Elon's voice is really annoying. I think that happened at the event, though. (Gate is when you mute everything below a certain volume)

I like his audience-friendliness. Not an arrogant fastspeaker who doesn´t care about anything but himself being in the center of the world´s attention. So refreshing for a business-leader that he tries to speak to a broad audience.

It probably as something to do with him being autistic... DUH... Which is why he excels at what he does and has his awkward moments in social interaction. You can see he doesn't make eye contact much, and the way he speaks his eyes roam and he speaks as he is processing the information, as opposed to coming up with a sentence and then saying it. Also his legs and arms can't stay still.

the roadster was just a test cargo ...if it wasn't the car it would have been a block of concrete and the BFR is much bigger ...and they have to test it with something .....if a semi plus roadster is in the range of possibilities and it could be ....using it instead of a block of concrete won't be a huge expense for the company

High tolerance for pain and mental anguish. This is why I'm concerned that the coddling of youth today does them no favors later in life. Musk was beaten mercilessly by his peers in school and he's come out stronger for it. Not that I think beatings are a good thing, but over protecting kids is definitely a bad thing.

I have never heard of Musk being "beaten mercilessly" in school, but I'm sure he got picked on, being a genius and having a speech impediment. Success to the point of being a titan of industry is fantastic revenge.

Yeah. And to take it a little further dying men accumulate "remedies" to legitimize and make acceptable that which is killing them. They need cures, not remedies. Making laws against telling the unvarnished truth is a sure sign of a dying society. It's all-the-rage.

There's just something about him. He has this aura that creates a cult of personality around him. It's insane how many ears he has pointing his way whenever he utters a single word... THAT'S powerful. I think it's because he's so smart and has such great goals for humanity, and is able to break it down for the average human to understand, while also occasionally throwing in jokes and memes which increases relatability, while also being one of the top 5 richest people in the world. Name another billionaire like that.

One nice thing about electric cars is that you can control who gets electrical power to charge their car. Now, you can buy gasoline anywhere as a liquid and just pour it in. But with electrical, it becomes easier to ID cars cryptographically so that when you plug in, you are not only charged automatically using that key, but you can be prevented from charging at many stations. I.e., you can be be banned. This way, if you piss off companies or the state, you can be black listed and limited. If you're a criminal, this means your range can be restricted (obviously, there are ways around it, but it makes it difficult). If you're not, but your social credit score goes down, you won't be totally prevented, but your life will be made more difficult. And if the system detects that you've charged your car illicitly, we can brick the car at a legit charging station. This latter bit can be done with gas, too, of course, but there are so many cars now that take case, that you can avoid buying a new one that does this. Naturally, this isn't absolutely unique to electric cars, but if introduced early on and gasoline is slowly deprecated, it provides an opportunity to entrench this. Some may claim you can just charge your car at home, but again, you may only be able to do this through an authorized charger that respects the cryptographic key, or else you would be in a position similar to illicit weed growers who can be discovered by watching the electric meter. Cars already contain a bunch of stuff that allows remote parties to shut them down or whatever. W.r.t. AI, AI is not intelligent per se. Intelligence requires abstraction which is the capacity to form universal concepts from concrete particulars (what some would call "semantics"). Computers lack semantics. They are, at best, abstract mathematical machines that, when realized in hardware (making them observer relative and not objectively real in the substantial sense), correspond to a syntactic system. Desemantification or formalization is exactly the process by which we encode some truths known semantically by us as syntactic approximations for our local purposes. Thus, AI is severely limited in this sense because it is a simulation of an abstract syntactic machine. That, of course, doesn't mean "AI" cannot be used to nefarious ends. There's no qualitative difference between AI and other sorts of data processing, and data processing can be used to nefarious ends (look at how corporations mind data to deliver advertisements based on a combination of heuristics and other sorts of inferences). Imagine extending that and making it more sophisticated. Either someone's interested are being encoded in the AI or else unknown interests are being encoded. That is what is primarily dangerous, not that we will have a true superintelligence.

I think you've hit on the very essence of his worst problem and he seems to have been able to solve it fairly well. Like every other problem he encounters. The man's not perfect by any means of assessing "perfect" but who knows---maybe that's what will keep all the "usual suspects" from nailing him up to a tree.
