Excellent song after all these years.

Everytime I listen to this it's like it's brand new. Timeless! So glad I was born in the 60's and grew up with real music.

One summer in the mid-70's ELO rented a house next to my friend's house. We would sit on her front steps, listening to them practice. It's the time I fell in love with Mr. Blue Sky, as I listened to them working it out and rehearsing it. What a great summer that was. The guys were super friendly and would always yell over a hello and wave to us.

This is such a genius song! Musically, lyrically and as far as production and arrangement go, it is truly one of the best of all time!

60 year old here. Listening to it in 2022, as though time only made it better. Brilliant.

I saw them twice in concert. They were great. That was back when music was cutting edge and innovative. I miss those days.

Kelly was the best.

The first time I ever saw ELO was in the early 70's. I was laying on my parents couch half asleep late on a Saturday night watching the Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack. When this band comes on with all these strings. A tall white guy with a huge afro wearing a white suit and a pair of mirrored aviator sunglasses stands there with the lights reflecting of his shades and they break into ShowDown. Completely blew my mind! I can still see it if I close my eyes. A fan for the rest of my life from that point on.

It’s what I call a real talent. The live version is astonishingly close to that on the record. True musicians, real instruments, professional command of the performance, real voices , not showing off. I miss it during these ugly times.!

It's not a live version, they're miming to the studio track. (Note for example the lack of microphones or pickups on the violin and cellos.)

Being a kid of the 70's I can easily say ELO and Super Tramp were the sound track to my summers. Always on the radio playing somewhere.

Carmen Arriaga reminds me of my 20s. No responsibilities just take care of myself. Nothing wrong with marriage and grandkids, but it was nice to single. Back in the middle 70s a different date every weekend, those were the days.

@@mzzzol I must agree with you, mzzzol, the 70's were absolutely great! I think the music was one of the major reasons for that. Music was so diverse and it seemed that every song told a story and every singer was singing to or about us. Musicians were using a wide variety of instruments. If you didn't have an instrument, you used what you had, even beat boxing and scratching came from the 70"s. You're right on about the afros, and there were some epic ones! It seems like everyone grew them or got them. Even tough guys were getting their hair permed. 😂 Take care and stay well! Another reason for the 70"s being great, we were YOUNG! 😏

Growing up in the 70s and 80 is when music players were called “artists” for a reason. ‘69 baby.

my first laser light show many years ago...ELO and Jethro Tull in the old San Francisco Memorial Auditorium... I still get chills

In 1977 I was 9 years old! It was a cool time to be a kid! I saw this on TV and thought, "Wow, British rockers from space!" Looked pretty futuristic to me at the time! Then I found my older cousins stash of albums while he was in the Air Force and played them nonstop!

Great song great year 1977. I was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps on 4 Oct 77, after 4 years of high and tight haircuts. On 5 Oct 77, let it grow, I finally got a haircut sometime in the middle of Dec 1977. So I still enjoy ELO and Im 61 yrs old.

ken caton I spend most of my tour with 2nd & 3rd FSR (Force Service Regiment), at Camp LeJeune and Camp Foster. 2nd & 3rd FSR became 2nd & 3rd FSSG (Force Service Support Group). Was you assigned to one of the Divisions, MCB, or the Air Wing?
