This was probably the best introduction to Elliot as a character you could ask for. RIGHT in the beginning of the first episode they establish him as a very weird and aloof guy, he's got some issues, but they also make it clear that he's got some major moral lines that he doesn't cross. The dialogue fits so well at characterizing him as seeming cold and uncaring, but also being very sensitive and feeling too.

That's the excuse these guys always use. Forgetting that they're distributing something that wouldn't exist without hurting a child in probably the worst way you can, changing them permanently. Even if it isn't devastating to them later in life, you can find it affects every relationship they have going forward. So messed up that people are able to convince themselves it's harmless.

Reminded me of a news story: Some guys stole computers with important information from an office of an organization that worked against child abuse. The computers were returned days later with a note from the thieves saying they didn't know what was in the computers when they took them and they were sorry

being socially awkward does mean you cant talk, or know about the english language. in a serious situation it becomes easier to know what to say sometimes. but causal conversation and theyll be at a loss of what to say, or even bring up something random that doesnt fit into the conversation. not everyones social anxiety comes out the same way either some people have trouble with serious conversations too.
