it is weird because I'm 32 and I was pretty young when this went down and the whole gay debate was raging hard around the time that my hormones were also raging hard so that was a big fun pain in the ass but I quite agree though because if I were her I would have been way more on the George Carlin side of a straight attacking people verbally then she was just a whole lot of smiling and yeah yeah I understand I have been very very very much more angry about the bad press that she got then she was.

It's no surprise why Elen became so angry now....Because she was so honest, brave and openhearted and people blamed her a lot, it's seen through the interviewer's eyes....And Elen's life was really very hard, so much pain, that she never had an ability to really talk about. The laughter as the choice to ignore all the violence that was made to her: and as a result the cruelty of her future reactions with the people who worked with her on her show...Look at Elen's eyes: they were full of kind shining those times, but now they are shining with anger....

We sit down and talk about it one time because I didnt understand I was in my early 20 . I asked him why he thought he was gay he said I was born this way. He said I can promise you this wasn't a choice because no one in their right mind would ever want to live this life . He told me it was a very hard life one that no one whould chose . He said people are mean , hateful and just dont understand . I didn't care if he was gay are straight he was the best uncle and I loved him so much . He would have Birthday dinners for me and my sister at Circus Circus it was the neats place in Houston ! At Christmas time we would go home with him and stay a couple of days . He was just the greatest we always watched water ship down . My youngest son's was named after my uncle his middle name is Glenn . I’ve recently became a huge fan of Ellen, I’ve always like you, I’ve always liked your voice specially and the way you laugh. The first time I saw you was on a comedy special on HBO (I think) many years ago. I have a long commute and I love listening to your jokes and your sweet voice while I drive. Looking at these videos my heart breaks to see you cry and how you struggled back then. I am a huge supporter and a huge fan. I even play your slot machine games. I’m so happy that your are happy now and that you have Portia in your life and I hope I can hug you one day I try to be as kind and wonderful as you are to others every day. I am a nurse in NY and I love you!

I got the same from my stepmother. Not because I was gay but I was just excited to see him after 9 yrs. She proceeded to tell me I wasn't welcome because she was his wife not me. She stuck a knife in my heart so I packed my bags that day & went home to NJ. I think ur great that you have such a big heart & that's all that really matters. My sister is gay after being married for 10 yr had 4 kids & when she told me I had already known in my heart. Her 3 kids r straight & 1 is Bi-sexual. I don't carre who does what behind closed doors. ❤💖🙏

It’s mad how uneducated people were ‘But there are fashions as we know even in sexual practises... could it be that you’re inviting kids to try it’ WTH?!! Inviting children to be gay? Oh for heaven’s sake 😂 Poor Ellen to go through that, even in the late 90s, I was born in 97 and thankfully we’ve come a long way since then, it’s improved, but we’re still not all the way there. Homophobia, racism, sexism.. I hope one day that people realise that narrow-mindedness is not cool look to wear.

As man that is parent of a daughter who is Lesbian it's hard for our children to tell us that they are Gay Lesbian Bi or Transgender I told my daughter like I told my friends you are who you are also LGBT nothing will change my feelings of you Its giving support emotionally that means so much If we as "straight" men and women could be more accepting to things I feel their wouldn't be as many suicides in the LGBT Community I know some people are going to pound a bible at me But let me tell you this before you judge Why is there more sin inside the church than outside it It was people judging others that has turned me away from church and there is no where in the bible that says you have to attend church to be a believer You show me where that is in the bible than you can judge I don't like being bible thumped so dont start

'debate?', 'controversy?', 'strong feelings on both sides of this issue?' With no disrespect to the reporters but I wonder if they look at this video and hear how patronising and inhumane those words are/were? WTF.... it is simply DEALING WITH HOMOPHOBIA... it is tough and ridiculous that individuals are/were allowed to discrimate so willingly... Time does move on but how little changes for some...#ellen #hero #lgbti

I’m just seeing this and I have a granddaughter who is gay and she and her partner just had a baby girl. She was afraid to tell me because she thought I would be upset, but when she told me I told her and what’s the problem. I love you regardless of who you are. I also told her “I come out of the closet all the time but it’s to get my coat 😹😹😹. I told my family, now we were raised pentecost, and my Daddy was the Pastor and when he passed, my brother became the Pastor. He teaches out of the KJB and he was preaching one night and said that he has family members who claim to be gay and I called him after church and said to him, I know you were talking about my granddaughter and, just to let you know, the Bible says it is sin, but who are we to judge. The Bible also says “judge not lest they be judged”. I’m the outcast of the family as I wear makeup, cut my hair, wear pants, etc. and I can’t tell you how many times I’m going to hell. You be who you are and I am who I am. I have til my family if they say or treat her different, I will have a come to Jesus meeting with them and my come to Jesus meetings are not good, trust me when I say, you wouldn’t want to have one with me. I support you 100%. Carol Stacy
