Hey! Nice video and you guys just happened to come on a holiday when things were literally dead and quiet. Everyone either stays home or is out doing something outdoorsy on holidays like that! Yes, you guys were walking thru the old Railyard, the original 1908 train depot is the building that sits in front of the amphitheater in the town square which you thought was more park like. They have free concerts there every other week with vendors and a drive in/car show. Scenic excursion trains leave from that depot on those tracks Wed - Sunday and then 6 days a week in the fall. The weird concrete round area did in fact used to be a roundhouse where they turned the trains around. It burnt down in the 80’s. The bigger park in the area is the Elkins City Park which sits below our college, Davis and Elkins College. Come back on a weekend or non holiday and you’ll see a much different side of the city. Plus the city extends much farther than just the historic downtown area. Thanks for visiting!

I lived in Elkins from 2000 to 2013,now living in Florida.He really did no research on Elkins,very poor video.Just baseless arrogance!

This video is an extremely poor representation of this town and the surrounding area. The creators did zero research, or even a quick google search, on local attractions.

Nice small town near the WV hills. I definitely could live there.

You obviously wanted to be "edgy", but all you did was show your limited worldview. You go on the morning of a federal holiday and expect downtown to be bustling. Obsessing over a gas regulator, "low ceilings" (they're not), or a historic structures? Small towns are communities, not "downtowns". The "ugly murals" involve members of the community coming together of all ages. Getting out of your bubble means more than just juicing up your car and driving around. It takes more effort than you put into it. I wanted to give your video a fair shake, but felt bad that I was giving you the ad revenue.

Wholeheartedly agree with you and others. The commentary throughout the video, by both as a whole, was IGNORANT!!!! For example, "low ceilings" and artwork on the building is "graffiti" and "ugly". SERIOUSLY???

I'm from elkins. And your right about the old train round house.

I'm retired and thinking of moving to Elkins and this video helped me inch closer to that move, despite Denise's thumbs down review.

I bought property there 3 years ago and just spent my 1st summer there. It's a great place and far more vibrant than this video shows. They visited on a holiday. One thing you will notice is that there is almost 100% occupancy in the store fronts not something you'll see in any other small town.

If you are retiring and alone, be cautious about locals. I've seen many people move to this area to retire and find all their money/properties left to a "friendly" local who mows their lawn or "just checks in on them." People with a property in another state are often fooled by someone offering to watch their property while they are out of town and find small items "misplaced." Several of these "friendly" locals are convicted murders or pedophiles who were released early due to the diminished resources of local judicial systems. Serving 2 years of a 25 to life sentence for murder is hardly justice. Be careful!

Thomas is 30 miles north I lived in Canaac Valley 13 years

I just got back from spending my vacation there, I fell in love with Elkins. I'm from NY city and now I'm planning on moving there, God willing!!!
