You can see there would have been problems in that marriage - at the beginning, where she goes to kiss him, he pulls back

Apparently he liked hats. So she wore more hats during her time with him.

I like it when Todd said it's better to be lucky than smart. At least he was not deluded enough to think his success was a result of hard work lol. Well he was a reckless gambler so he should know what luck meant to him.

Not counting her marriage to Mike Todd because we will never know if he may have been "the one " but it's pretty obvious Liz Taylor had relationship issues , choosing to jump into marriages with the wrong man all the time . She seemed to seek out subconsciously , abusive men

yes, and its sad because if there had been more prevalent therapy back then, so many people in earlier decades might have realized and been able to get a hold on such patterns earlier in their life rather than later - which we see with many stars because of how publicized they are. she said her father would get drunk and would even hurt her occassionally, and that her mother was pushing her into the limelight as early as possible even when she asked her not to, and we all know her first marriage as a teenager, and probably first real romantic experience, was also heavily public and abusive. its no wonder she had a difficult time finding the "right" men - romantically (not platonically), she had probably never ever seen a good example of that. especially being so sheltered in a hollywood bubble during every single one of her formative years! i know she had a ton of relationship trouble, but, when you think about it like that, its almost a wonder she turned out with any kind of a good head on her shoulders in her older years at all, which she definitely did!

Rule number 1, just because 18 is a legal age doesn’t mean you should get married that young. Liz herself probably learned the hard way. But her first dress was beautiful though.

18 was not the legal age in 1950. It was 21.
