At 8:11. In Getsy’s defense he had a play we’re the TE chipped the end and would get to the open Sam spot that became vacated by the LB. It worked a few times. The problem was that he had obvious tendencies and tried to use it too much so he eventually gave up on it instead of trying to build off it.

Swifty, if Waldron is such a good play caller, why is there a buzz from Seahawks fans saying "good riddance" or "he sucks" when the Bears hired him? And why was he ranked 23rd in the NFL in 3rd down conversions and why did his offenses struggle in the red zone? These are significant red flags IMO!

Waldon Waldron is a pass first OC. I described him as stable, and knowledgeable. Unlike Getsy, he attacks the seams of the Defense and is use quick pass plays in place of heavy running. Takes chances, and knows how to scheme to his best players. I’m interested to see what he can do with an ultra athletic QB like Justin or Caleb.

The Waldron hire has got me excited about 2024. It also makes me believe the Bears are going to keep Fields. I have a belief that goes beyond the X’s and O’s that pertains to football and life. The last two times the Bears went to the Super Bowl was 1985 and 2006. Both those teams won with superior defense and a strong ground game. In 2006 the original game plan for the offense was I believe a run and gun. However, the QB Rex Grossman got hurt and the back up Kyle Orton came in as a game manager. The Bears offense organically became a heavy run offense led by a great and underrated RB Thomas Jones. Who in my opinion had similarities to Walter Payton. I should also mention they had Cedric Benson to spell Jones and part of the offensive ball control scheme was to use Devon Hester to set up field position. It was a 3 headed rushing attack. This leads me to believe that these teams have a DNA so to speak aka an identity. The Bears ID is Superior defense and ball control offense. There are natural laws that govern these teams. For the Bears they should always have a great runner such as Walter Payton or Tomas Jones. JF is WP 2.0 on the modern game. There athletes should be based in the papa Bear T-formation modernized for todays game. The fact the Waldron has a version of the T- Formations has got me excited and makes me believe the Bears are going to the Super Bowl.

Great job Swifty on the Shane Waldron analysis! Put Justin in this system and he would be the most dangerous quarterback in the NFL! ALso, Swifty can you do a video on the resetting the quarterback clock fallacy because resetting the clock when you're have a lot of holes to fill is more expensive when you're filling those holes with high price aging veterans and free agents! Whereas keeping Fields and getting the haul you're filling those holes with inexpensive 1st, 2nd and 3rd picks!

It might be too confusing for the QB to learn all these plays. lol. I would stick with JF1 simply due to his 3 years of experience and improving each year. A rookie would set the bears back at least two seasons. That leaves contract issues for all the other players signed. I.e. Is Montez sweat gonna be that good 3 years from now and not banged up while you wait for rookie to learn nfl play ? The other problem is bears lack depth, on defense and o line is weak. Lots of holes still, and not enough draft picks. This draft is loaded with good receivers. Who is to say there won’t be a loaded draft of good qbs in a year or two ? jf1 won’t be an expensive QB even under his extended. He has the talent, certainly better than Brock Purdy or CJ Stroud, or nick foles, or Jared Goff to get your team to the Super Bowl. Everybody wants a Mahomes or a Brady and are missing out on a lot of other good Qb’s who take the blame for team holes or poor play calling. If Waldron turns out to be as good on offensive play calling, getting best out of his players, as Eberflus has done on defense without superstar draft picks, then the team could be pretty damn good. 3 games they could have won this year, with Waldron instead of getsy. Probably could have beat Green Bay as we held them to 17 2nd game. Just saying. I don’t think they need a Caleb, and again he could be a locker room nightmare. So many high draft pick qbs have been total busts. The ones drafted further back have done well. Brady, Mahomes, Etc.

I also believe if we didn't grab him, he would have been picked up by at least 2 other teams. Saying all that, I have to ask what his demands were.... This makes me believe the Bears are keeping Fields. This is the kind of creativity Fields needs to be the next innovative offense. The Bears offense may look similar to Baltimore this year. Kmet needs to ready for a big year. I like it.

At 11:57 there is a TE lined up in the backfield. I don’t understand why most people call this a TE and not a FB. If you say you have 13 personnel I picture 1 HB and 3 TE’s on the LOS. If you say 22 I picture 2 skilled positions in the back field. This matters because when considering how to stop a formation for example you have to consider where the personnel is situated and the patterns that emerge from those formations. Personnel grouping is not based on the individual players natural position but rather where the player is at in the field and what formation is created with the personnel and what patterns can emerge. This is a 2x2x1. It’s a strong right wing right I-formation. Sorry, not trying to question you. Very good video and very knowledgeable. More than me perhaps. I just notice that people do this all the time and seem like a common mistake.

Im not even a big JF fan, I think he has a lot of weaknesses but keeping JF and trading down to get MHJr will make the team and especially JF better. Add this new OC I think JF will improve a whole lot, because now we get MHJr and a OL like Joe Alt at 9. It so much more of a better team and value than getting Caleb and having the same players, which would be a wildcard team at best.

just catching up on your videos and having just watched this video, I came to this conclusion, while different in design, this offense reminds me of Sean Payton's offense, having passing option deep, medium and short on every passing play is staple and hallmark of Sean Payton's offense, those chips, clearing or moving of defensive players with motion and routes is actually very much his offense and that requires a QB that will trust plays to develop and take what the play is designed to do and not play "hero ball" and keep looking for deep plays or decide to start running, those are traits that Justin Fields is NOT known for, he's probably closer to Russell Wilson and if the stories are true, Waldron was happy to get rid of Wilson and get a QB that fits what he wants his offense to be in Geno Smith, a pocket QB that will take what the play calls for or what the defense gives him, QB that will keep offense in rhythm

At 3:23 Bosa maintains outside contain which messes with the QB’s timing and vision. He has been good at that all year. Is it Waldrons fault? The throw is there in the back corner, but since the rhythm of the play was disrupted the QB can’t go through his normal progression and get to his ideal throwing spot on the field. Waldron should have known that Bosa has the discipline to throw off the play. However, it can be argued that a good QB makes the throw to the corner. Does JF or CW make this throw? I think JF first 2.25 seasons runs it in for a TD. JF has shown growth and is making those very throws with precision now. There’s also a chance he gets around Bosa. CW? I believe 50/50 he runs. In year one I think he tries to get around Bosa and when he can’t he backs up and throws a 50/50 ball. CW at 2.25 seasons makes the throw probably with precision. At no time does CW get around Bosa. In either scenario it’s not even worth it.

Nice video but: 1. Joseph seems to be a versatile coach but not a QB Whisperer and Waldron was a TE in college. Just how do they develop a QB? 2. Geno Smith thanked his HC and the Seahawks organization when he won the comeback of the year award, but not Waldron or Joseph, as far as i know. 3. Is it unfair to say that Waldron and Joseph got Pete Carroll fired? Having said that, Waldron looks better than Getsy, but they were dealing different QBs with different skill sets and experience levels. If things go south, whom do the Bears fans and writers beat up?

Great now we have Shane Waldron as OC! Is Gino coming too? Because I'm already hearing how it's not Justin's fault! But it's this complicated offense the Bears are running now, that confuses Fields and makes him hold the ball too long! And miss throws! I just hope the NFL won't be too terrified of Justin and the Bears this year! It'll be Fields third OC! Hmmm??? There'll be some interesting excuses this year! Bear Down! Oh many years did they use? to train Jimmy Mac! to be an NFL QB?

Thanks for the vid Swifty, I was looking forward to watching the breakdown on how Waldron creates and sets up his plays……..I love his creativity and also like how he’s always changing a certain play with different wrinkles here and there that fool’s the defense where they think it’s the same play again etc……this is something we never had with Getsy because he was to predictable with no creativity, I’m so excited to see what he can do with JF1, DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney and Tyler Scott……..If we’re able to get MHJ, Xavier Worthy, Rome Odunze or Malik Nabers added to the WR core (2 out of 3 is fine), our passing game is going to be lethal next season which is going to open up the run game and play action pass. By the way…….JF1 isn’t going anywhere because the Bears are gonna build around him now that we have an experienced offensive play caller, the Bears offense is going look night and day come next season compared to this season.

I enjoy your vids. A few things Getsy failed at was adjustments and stubbornly putting to much faith in his scheme. Case in point. For example , Versus Zero coverage and blitzes in the Vikings game, I was infuriated at Getsy for constantly leaving 5 man protection vs 5 man rush! No chip blocks to help line! No 12 personnel to help neutralize 5 or 6 man blitzes. No deep shots! No 3 level attack! I have a good feeling about this coach! Also Justin Fields biggest flaw is stubbornly holding the ball and not trusting the scheme.. (Part of it Getsy bad scheme.) Also Justin just like Lamar Jackson plays too much hero ball running around trying to extend plays instead of working the offense. You must have schemes to create open routes and easy reads. Geno Smith had a great year due to this offense. The best plan is to draft Calen Williams and keep Justin Fields. Let the 2 duke it out in training camp! It's not unheard of. Wentz and Hurts, Montana and young. Alex Smith with Mahomes. Drew Brees with Philip Rivers. Farve with Rodgers, Rodgers with Love. C'mon Bears be smart for once
