ELIMINATIONS TO 1M20 | 1 Year Of Eric’s Journey

Ойын-сауық

Long time no see! I haven’t posted consistently on KZread for a fair while now but I really wanted to make this video to show the whole process of getting Eric where he is today.
Eric came to me as a sales livery and 6 months later we ended up buying him off his owner’s as I wasn’t able to sell him to anybody else due to him throwing all his viewings off!!
It was the best decision I have ever made and I now have a best friend for life in him. He isn’t the finished product just yet but I am so proud of how far we have come as a partership in the last year spent together.
If you’d like to follow Eric’s progress on other platforms:

Thankyou for watching 😊

There’s been a little bit of confusion about who owns Eric (my fault for not mentioning in the video!). I now own Eric, I bought him about 6 months into him being on my yard. He had a few viewings but threw everybody off 🙈 so his old owners very kindly allowed me to buy him. Best decision ever!❤️

Oh wow - I've stumbled on the infamous Eric' on KZread lol...... Goodness what a super video, horsemanship, and loyalty to a horse most would of considered and no doubt told you to PTS, sell and give up on!! Oh Lily you have made an older lady (58 next month) so very very happy tonight! I campaign to make people aware of the UK Horse Meat trade and the fact its not all about unwanted gypsy ponies, injured or old and other reasons horses end up going for slaughter, but that it can be horses who have had successful careers and turned nappy, sour or whatever you want to label them. Lily you prove what can be done with 'sensitive' horses like Eric (oh boy i cant tell you how many times my heart was in my mouth watching this) and with good, unflappable and calm riding with an ability to accept and adapt to your horse and not expect it to be the other way round, take a dangerous equine to such an amazing level!! Eric was meant to find you - its that simple - he will never be happy with anyone else, unless you find someone who takes him for all he is... you have given this special horse the special thing you can give and that is = his life... thank you for being you, thank you for being exceptional in your wonderful riding, thank you for your belief and perseverance in Eric, your ability to see the end of the tunnel and for sharing this real 'rag to riches' story and journey with us. I already follow you on other social media when you pop up, but I'm a big one for You Tube and you have gained a number 1 Fan in your journey in 2024 and beyond. May I wish you a wonderful, safe (even more admiration for the lack of neck strap lol) year of whatever you choose to do and yes it was the Team Chase Video on Instagram I first saw you - so I'm off to watch all you have posted on KZread lol and if you fancy another ride that might (and might not challenge you - I have an unbroken 13 year old (Irish x Totter) that also likes to spend time in the air playing silly buggers ) who is also a sensitive (but not rude or nasty - just wild in his head lol - my dear old Bertie The Brave ... I have a herd of 8 and Bert thinks he is the leader and I often wonder if he is an Eric - I suspect not but I;m not showing him this video to give him any ideas as I'm not as flexible as you ha ha ha - good luck and I cant wait for the next instalment. xxx ...

Wow! I sat amazed through the whole video! First of all, you eq is LITERALLY flawless, how you ride him between the fences, how you approach the fences and not to mention your position! It was absolutely wonderful watching this video and see you transform him 😱 Secondly, you should be soooo so proud of your process, they way you have given him this new confidence and managed to lessen his anxiety is amazing and only proves that both your horsemanship and your riding is fantastic!!! And lastly, I strongly believe you two will go a lot further! For you to have developed a horse from the 80cm to 1m20 in 1 year is phenomenal! This is only the beginning of your story ♥ Can't wait to see the process you will make in the future! Absolutely amazing

I truly with my whole heart believe that eric was "destined" to find you. Many people know to have a more open-minded view on horses and to not believe that they're naughty or being a twat, and to look at it as a pain response or behavioral/anxiety issues. But you have truly brought Eric so far, yes you'll have more disappointing days, but overall, you two have come so far

Well what an amazing and inspirational video. What you have achieved in such a relatively short time with such a “long in the tooth” troubled soul. I truly respect your kindness, your patience and your wonderful horsemanship skills. So many, many people would have put a nail in his coffin but look what you both have achieved. Can you just imagine what your story would have been if you had had him from a youngster? All credit to you. Thank you for taking the time to share this journey with us. Truly appreciated. ❤️

This made me so happy, i am so glad you are proud of yours and Eric’s progress, the improvement is extraordinary ❤ it was super good to her at the start of the video and throughout that you know his behaviour is not naughty it’s anxiety related, as i feel so many people put it down to naughtiness which is such a shame. Been watching your KZread for years from when you evented Crystal to now, i bet your younger self would be blown away ❤❤

Such a great video! Thank you so much for sharing it. Loved it, learned so much and in particular, gained valuable insights watching you ride through his mega athletic expressions of anxiety! I believe other (more forceful) SJ training approaches would have resulted in both rider and horse landing in a heap on the floor, bodies and all confidence shattered. Weaker, less determined/talented riding may have produced a nice hacking horse, ‘impossible’ to do anything with at show venues. Extremely well done so far 👏 👏. Brilliant 🤩 ❤. Am subscribing! Xx

I would argue with 90% being pain response. I would suggest a much lower percentage that is actually related to pain. Mostly it is emotional around lack of leadership and feeling insecure and then learned response as to what gets them out of the situation. But I fully agree check everything out. Very often a strong leader and very firm boundary is all that an emotional horse needs to quiet and realise he can relax in your company. Brilliant work in bringing Eric back round to a much more comfortable state and enjoying his life with you.

Yes you’re probably right! I just plucked that from my head not a proven statistic. In my experience I do find the majority of the time it is a pain response or a memory from previous pain, but anxiety related issues are also very common 😊
