And just like that, I can jump again?!

Welcome back to the next chapter of my training camp with Simon Grieve! In this video, we delve into another showjumping session where we tackle larger fences and focus on regaining the confidence that was challenged in our previous cross-country outing.
I'm pleased to report that I feel much more composed and in control during this session. It's fascinating to observe how swiftly confidence can fluctuate in this sport, and I'm grateful that this time it's trending in the right direction.
Be sure to catch up on our previous episodes to follow the entirety of our journey, and stay tuned for more equestrian escapades with Simon. Don't forget to hit that subscribe button and enable notifications to be the first to know when the next video is released.

What were Lucinda‘s words? The very first time she laid eyes on Jam? “This one’s an athlete!” Look at her over jump these fences. When you keep her in balance, and let her mouth alone, she is so willing to jump stuff like this and so happy while doing it. Meg, you did fantastically well in listening to Simon and adjusting your own style. That’s hard to do. Simon is an incredibly gifted teacher because he sees what both of you need and he’s able to communicate that.

Meg- your consistency is increasing multi fold under Simon's instruction, and you are learning to depend on that consistency thus increasing your confidence. Jam is more confident because you are more consistent and the loop is positive and getting results. YOU are doing the work Simon puts before you and soon you will own it without frequent positive feedback from outside yourself. Jam already knows you are better than you think you are!!! Congrats on everything!!!! Well done you!!!

Fantastic job Meg! You rode that course tremendously well, and Jam had some real loft and air-time over a few of the fences, thanks to the balance and impulsive you two were creating together. Such a terrific job, and Simon is great at pinpointing a few key things for you to address. Word choice is so important and we could SEE you thinking “balance” before and after the jumps, as well as continuing to work Jam through her body between the fences. You both looked focused but relaxed and there definitely seemed to be all the time in the world. So, so so pleased for you both!!

Amazing riding! You came in seeming so much more positive, Simon's teaching style really seems to suit you - being specific and giving you something to think about (distract yourself with!). Your whole body looked calmer, stronger and much more confident, which have Jammy extra wings! Can't wait to see what more of those sessions will do for you.

HELL YEAH YOU CAN AND YOU WILL! Watching that round reminded me of Piggy riding Jam! Would love to see Simon on Jam - mostly because it will be so much fun for Simon and we'll get a lot of excited "weee!"'s - but I love seeing you on her just as much. As everyone who has seen Jam says: She is absolutely incredible! And that is thanks to you! You produced this one-of-a-kind pony. In the video of your first competition you mentioned: Not many people believed in this pony...and now look at you two! Placed and twice top 10 at Badminton, both of you absolutely loving your job and most of all Jam is giving her all and believing in her mommy forever - just like you did when probably no one else would have. No matter how Badders 2024 goes: Congratulations Meg, you already did it.

Gosh I love Simon. As I said before he’s definitely someone you want in your support circle. He can flit between having a great laugh with you to knowing the boundaries of when he’s teaching which is so professional; but he doesn’t lose that kind vibe. He’s the epitome of a great teacher because you can tell he has high levels of emotional intelligence because he doesn’t feel the need to belittle you at any point. Any wobbles (& there were none really) he uses them as a teaching experience. He explains things so well like balancing straight after a fence, etc. Jam is looking & going so well & your riding is amazing. I loved the shoulder in exercises in the groundwork gosh what a difference that makes. Glad it all went well 👏

That mare can sure jump. She just looks A-MA-ZING over fences! I have an unconventional suggestion. What you need to do--what Simon is telling you when he tells you to rebalance instead of going to your hand--is a good full body half-halt. You know who can really work with you on that? Rich. What about a dressage lesson where you actually JUMP? Work on the half halt (which is much more about core and legs than hands) on the flat and then over fences, with Rich there to yell at you. I think that if you felt as if you had a really good HH, and Jam had learned to respond to it well, you would feel confident that you could rebalance her without slowing her and confusing her. Worth a try? Anyway, clearly you can BOTH DO THIS!!!!!!

Simon’s a great instructor for you. He’s got a sense of humor and he breaks down his instructions into understandable bits and has you focus on only a few things. Some instructors just tell you to jump something and then tell you how great you were without reminding you you of what to work on. Great job Meg and Jam!

a while back in comment section i was a bit frustrated with Jam in general - too much to go into it all - but now what a transformation in Jam and a team work in horse and rider You both together are close to being "one" in unison - soooo close to it. Jam really has developed a talking personality to. Just look at her facial expressions and body language , she is constantly talking to you all at different moments, she truly feels a part of everyone and is in the moment doing her role play in all this. Horses don't just be that on their own commonly, some do and that is rare because it takes a long term relationship with horse and owner to really bring out each other's inner self and when it happens you get the wonders in life like Jam and Meg together. I just cannot get enough of this channel, Thank you for all that you do!!!

The confidence you gained from being at Simey's place for Badders prep has really shown that confidence coming back. Even though Cross Country Day was difficult, he made Show Jumping fun again. As I've told you before, and I'll say it again, YOU ARE A GREAT RIDER!! You have a very natural seat, a little work on the shoulders needed to help JamBam in her corners to keep her shoulder where it needs to be, and you're golden!! Believe in yourself!!
