We are the Millers and we come from a long line of Amish descendants. Both of our parents grew up Amish, but later left and decided it wasn't the lifestyle for them. It took only one generation removed from this lifestyle to lose so much of what our ancestors thought of as "normal." Our goal is to help people grow their own food and become more self sufficient. We recently bought a 6 acre Farmstead and we are so excited to share this journey with you! Please subscribe to see how we turn this piece of abandoned land into a thriving homestead!

You're only supposed to put down a tiny amount of slug pellets and beer traps actually attract slugs so it's getting a balance so you don't end up attracting more slugs

Best way to rid garden of slugs and snails is grandchildren...Give kiddo a bucket and promise of 10p per snail/slug. They get pocket money, you get a slug free garden. They enjoy the challenge... (downside for me was my 4 year old grandson wanted to keep them as pets lol)

Haha! I did that 20+ years ago. But, I think it was 1c per slug (honor system) for my little boy and his buddy. But, it was that cookies baking that kept them from wandering off. Those wet days were massive slug populations. This year is going to be bad. We are in the slug capital of the world, Everett Washington. We haven't had a winter kill cold in at least 4 - 5 years. The wireworm beetles are all gitty. I may need some chickens.

I use wet moistened wads of weeds in a half gallon container then collect the weeds and slugs in the morning to be dried out after. The slugs eat the weeds and stay there to be collected with the weeds.

I wish i only had a jar full after collection. I have been using 2 gallon buckets. For the last couple of weeks I have been collecting them every few days and i have filled 5 buckets. I am guessing I have collected around 3-4 thousand so far. It is CRAZY!

I have been able to reduce the slug pressure to minimal directly around the house and veggie garden spaces. We were finally able to put out our new seedlings and hesitantly used slug pellets to protect them. I removed all mulch and ground covers directly around the plants. I have a large terraced yard and I have been walking a terrace for 20-30 minutes and using scissors to cut every slug I see. I have probably unalived 200-500 slugs everyday for a month now. I have learned a lot about what they like to eat, habitats and hiding spots and their activity hours/conditions..

I use the slug and snail bait but they melt when it rains. We have rain almost every night. I tried beer too. So the last 2 wks i go to the garden at 6am and put salt on their backs. I started doing that at night too.

The Sluggo didn’t kill all of them but definitely most of them!! After I applied it my seedlings had to time to grow without getting eaten right away. I used Sluggo this year again but rather then broadcasting it, I just applied it to the rows I planted or around plants that seemed to be most affected

I looked for a follow up video but couldn’t find one, did this work for your slug issue? Also just to side note, chickens dont naturally eat slugs because slugs are out at night when chickens are asleep. The slugs can give the chickens worms so it’s not the best treat for them. Best to stick to their natural foraging.

WHAT I dont understand, Quite often, I'll find slugs or snails halfway up the walls of my house or garage or Rv shed. SAY WHAT?!?!?!?!? Where the hell are they going? What do they suspect is waiting for them at the top of these walls? Does retardation exist in the animal kingdom? Mine sure are. I try to unstick them as gently as I can & bring them down & put them in some grass. I'm guessin they are looking for food. !
