Hey there CGB, I used to watch your videos often when I played more competitively, but I've been playing this standard deck that I thought you would enjoy. I haven't seen anything quite like it out there so I'm rather proud of it. I'm rusty and sure it could be tuned up, but it's a Maestro Despair deck that is really satisfying to play. Thematically, you get to orchestrate a despair so grand that your opponent dies. you had some odd picks for this deck, like why not also include panharmonicon. also it kind of struggles unless you get a good hand

That Charming Prince / Sanctuary Warden play was so good. I would never have thought of that. Nice to see all that Yorion experience paying off

27:05 there’s probably some kind of flavor here about Ajani, Sleeper Agent whiffing because of his own original Oath 🥲 31:31 no they can’t, unless they remove Elesh Norn beforehand, because she prevents ETB triggers from the opponent and Kyodai’s indestructible ability is an ETB trigger

Glad you made this, I had a Guy ask me about modifying his deck. He had 0 enter the battlefield effect cards, but a Elish Norn mother of machines, smh...

I'm curious what that Jodah player had in his hand, so many cards and so much mana but no way stay alive, seems odd.

I have had a LOT of luck playing the Wandering Emperor with CGB’s Avacyn historic brawl list. Has a lot of similarities to this list, but blinking Sundering Titan with the emperor straight up ends the game unless opponent is also mono white. Downside vs Norn is, much harder to get value from blinking early drops because deck relies heavily on teleportation circle and has to play more ramp/card draw to support a six cost commander.

Nice to see Historic Brawl back!!

I had some success with her playing some stax pieces like "Smothering tithe" and "Reidane" in combination with some tokens like "Reverent Hoplite" and "Oketras Monument". Then finish the game with 7 cmc Elesh Norn or Portal. But my favorite move is to take over the board and then blow up all lands with "Fall of the Thran". Never gets old.

Just before I hit play I had a hb match as Ziatora against Elesh Norn. And it was a tough one, had i not topdecked a safekeeping, they’d beat me. The pure joy of stealing and sacrificing a +1/+1 counter boosted Elesh Norn to Ziatora, then hitting them in the face for just what’s left is golden tho.

In the last game, i guess you could don't play the swords and then in your turn, play prison or banishing light on razaketh, opponent tutors for tamiyo safe keeping, target razaketh and then you play swords on him and exiles. I don't know why this couldn't work.

Chromium, the Mutable is my main Esper commander; cast him on end step and you usually just win, since all the other cards are card-draw and interaction

Giant killer would be a cool tutorable from ranger captain, also decent against some evasive problems

Interesting games. Most of them your opponents didn't seem to do all that much but put mana rocks on the board.

You raised a good question. What is a good Esper commander? I like Raffine for a reanimator type of strategy. Chromium can be fun as a generic one.

One very good protection spell (probably the only one I would run) is Tawnos Endures. Yes it's alchemy and alchemy is evil but it really does protect your elesh from everything they might have. It can also act as a way to blink a value creature and even perpetually grow your cmdr. You could even decide to let her stay in exil for a couple of turns until you know that you can go off with her on your turn. Maybe opponent taps out or your draw a critical ETB. It can even work as a pseudo removal spell for a turn.

imma be real... i think Big Mommy would be better in like an esper ETB or maybe even Naya. like it's almost like white isn't enough, which is why all of ofther commanders they put him against don't really like "go off" in the way we've seen before

The Jodah player was miserable, all that mana, all those draws... no omniscience, no extra turn, no Zacama, no ultimatum, no Ulamog. This kid didn't understood the interest to cheat stuff with Jodah

honestly I been playing with the deck for awhile....it kind of sucks. it gets shut down if you don't get land, it gets shut down if you can't draw cards, it gets shut down if your opponent goes wide, it gets shut down if your opponent goes big or has access to hexproof. its just the worse version of a ETB deck
