@@jaheimdaughtry8714 That very well could have been all the information there was. People are currently filling in the gaps without any sufficient evidence to draw a definite conclusion. Could she have done something to the animal to provoke it? It is possible. But simply because it is a possibility does not automatically mean that it is the correct explanation. Without evidence, it is anyone's guess what caused the elephant to attack the village. For all we know, it could have been headed that way already, and when she was at the water hole, she just happened to be the one there. Perhaps it came across that village later and attacked during the funeral out of mere coincidence. Perhaps there is another reason entirely that the sequence of events happened the way they did. Without evidence, all you have is speculation. She could have been guilty, but she also could have been innocent.

For the record the woman was a poacher and stole baby elephants. She stole this elephant’s baby and this elephant tracked her 25 miles to her village and chased her through town before killing her and then coming back to the funeral. The woman was NOT just standing at a water hole. She stole the baby and the mother at witnessed it.

True, but we also don't have any proof that she actually *did* anything either. There are rumors that she worked with elephant poachers, but no news sources online have confirmed this. For all we know, it could very well have just been a particularly hormonal bull in estrus, targeting a woman who just so happened to enroach on his turf at the wrong time.

@@robertlamell9921 The poor woman was just there to get some water. She unknowingly wandered into what the animal considered their territory. It's a case where wild animals are angry at humans in general due to PTSD. Humans have been destroying their habitats for many years so it's likely those elephants that trampled her were just lashing out at this 70 year old lady. If u read the story, the elephants (it wasn't one) didn't deliberately attack her corpse at the funeral. The herd rushed into the village and the village members all just fled for their lived leaving her corpse behind which got trampled again. 3 houses were attacked too.

The old woman got her baby killed

In ww2 in the jungle campaign in Burma elephants were used to carry heavy loads for allied forces, one of them crossing a river was knocked over by the current and started to drown, a British soldier saw this and risked his own life to jump into the water, swam towards the flailing elephant and used his knife to cut the belly strap, thus releasing the load, the elephant swam to shore, soon after the soldier got to the bank, and walked towards the elephant, who winked at him, and reached out with its trunk, to gently touch him on the head. A bond of gratitude was formed there and then, later the soldier would bring the elephant fruit and small treats, and always the gentle touch of the trunk. As the campaign continued the elephant would warn him and his colleagues of danger and the presence of Japanese troops saving countless lives. Years later the soldier returned to Burma on a remembrance for fallen comrades and the elephant still remembered him. True elephants never forget, and especially remember kindness, gentleness and saving of life. We need to protect our brothers and sisters in the animal world before we lose our link to nature and our natural family heritage

They neutralized the threat and then warned anyone taking up her sword against them by stomping and trampling her village. This was an epic moment, a hell of a powerful message because they showed us their true power individually and collectively and it also shows us just how much elephants really like the rest of us humans. 🤣

Its allegedly that the old woman use to throw rocks at the Elephant and 2 young children of the Elephant. The old woman got poachers involved and throw rocks at the Elephant to lure her away and the poachers were able to get the Elephants children.

Elephants remember things and they hold grudges against individuals just like humans do. A mistake done by one human cause them to hate everyone...

even if an animal didn't remember the harm you caused them it still would not be ok to hurt them or destroy their habitats. animals have been very kind to us in not attacking is when we breach their habitats and kill their family but enough is enough. this will not be the end of animals turning on humans who cross boundaries i guarantee it.

Elephants have a habit of getting their own back. I remember visiting a logging camp in Fang, Thailand. The elephants would not tread on a person and to prove it a Mahout lay in the path of about 12 elephants who dutifully stepped over him. All but the last one which stood over him and let go about a gallon of urine. I don't know what he'd done but Jumbo remembered!

I saw a video where a guy did some research and allegedly the woman was helping hunters. The hunters went after the baby elephant while this woman distracted the elephant who would eventually kill her so its attention was on her and not the baby so that womans face and scent were probably seared into the elephants memory. If that story is true. Either way I think a baby elephant was probably involved.
